Twenty Twelve - Series 2 Page 5

Shall we just say that what happens next is Ian and Sally get it on and Siobhan falls under a bus?

I think they're wondering why to go with this. What sequel can they come up with? I think it's got to be something British, maybe London, and iconic, I don't know. The London Eye promotion facility? Working at the O2? -but that looks like advertising. Royal Greenwich maybe. Any other ideas?

I can't see where they could go with a sequel, the Olympics is the biggest event around. The comedy comes from the fact this is the biggest event in the world they are screwing up and anything else is just going to seem underwhelming.

Any room to explore the "legacy" side of the Games? There could be a lot of bathos in having to keep on with the project once nobody cares anymore, and plenty of political capital in managing the aftermath. But it could be a stretch.

Could the team be moved on to another high-profile public project in recognition of their unique skill-set?

That's the only scenario that would work, although it's hard thinking of anything bigger than the Olympics.

Eurovision.

Nothing compares to readying Olympics, unless you've done a wedding. One-off sequel idea is the gang perhaps 'helping' Ian and Sally organize a post-Umbrian wedding? The couple would want something small, but...it could give closure to their story, and opportunity for messing up everything from guest lists and entertainment (Siobhan) to getting them to the church (Graham). Easy to get Kay and Fi competing over something, and Sally clearly does not want Fi anywhere near Ian. I'd think Nick would be best man and even Daniel could join in. Won't happen, I know. Just saying it might be fun (and Sally would just arrange for them to elope anyway).
