The interesting words thread

:P

Simon :D Hi de hi Wave

Whorgy,

I was highly amused as a child at finding the term...

FROTTAGE

...in the dictionary.

Quite apart from sounding funny it IS funny. :D

'A desire for contact between clothed persons' was the definition if memory serves.

Recalcitrant. Me to a tee.

Someone likes Porridge methinks. I think that's the only place I've heard that word.

Give that man a crack pipe :D

How callow.

Admit it, Frostyboy, you started this thread for the sole purpose of making that post ;)

Is it a describing word for the average BSG poster? :)

Turbulence. I had a curry for tea. Sick

The purpose of this thread is to post interesting words which aren't commonly used, in order to expand our vocabularies and kill some time.

The first word is:

Callow
\KAL-oh\, adjective:
Immature; lacking adult perception, experience, or judgement.

One of my favorite exchanges from Mallrats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T.S. Quint: [Reading the break-up letter that Renee gave Brodie] Woah, she calls you "callow" in here.
Brodie: You say that like it's bad.
T.S. Quint: It means frightened and weak-willed.
Brodie: Really? Shit. That was the only part of the letter I thought was complimentary.

Well that's me done. I don't know anymore words because i don't read books, which means i have a short attention span, and makes me the lowest from of human being. Apparently. Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

Bollockocity. Describes the extent to which something is bollocks.

For example, "the bollockocity of Little Miss Jocelyn is beyond comprehension."

How apt!

I like defenestration.
The act of throwing someone out of a window.

How excellent is it that there is a whole special word just for that!
