I haven't used it, admittedly, but it is there unless you have some aversion to it?

OK, I've downloaded Xplay, and have the same problem. The weird thing is, it does play some of my .wma files, but not others. The ones it plays are those that I downloaded (from my pc) all at once one evening, and since then, any that I've tried to put into my phone simply don't appear to be there, not on the app, nor in 'my files.' Yet by looking on my PC at the 'pie chart' of free space available on my phone, I can see that when I try to put more songs on, free space is being consumed. But then I can't find the file.
On a related note, I've just got rid of an annoying browser hi-jacker "Searchqu" which I inadvertently installed when try to d/l a 'free' mp3 converter. I've changed all the settings again, and verything appears to be back to normal now, but I'm not sure exactly what it is; it's described by some as a virus, although others say it isn't, and certainly my antivirus doesn't detect it (possibly because there's now nothing there). So need I be worried now that it no longer appears to hi-jack anything?
Viruses are a bit different in Android to Windows, I believe. They appear in the 'container' of a dodgy app, but can't 'break out' of that container. ie. if you uninstall the app, you get rid of the virus.

Sorry, I should have said the browser hi-jack problem was with my PC, not my phone.
Interesting what you say about Android viruses though, it's an area I know nothing about. I have some protection, but not a firewall (yet); what sorts of special risks do we face?
I think it's been specifically designed so that any problems can be removed by just uninstalling the app, if there's an issue. Though there is some talk of someone having just found an Android 'bot-net' (ie one that uses your phone to constantly send out spam via email, though Google deny this).
Your biggest risk from your phone is that you agree to the permission for an app (that doesn't need that permission for any obvious reason) to send texts/make calls and then it keeps calling/texting at £5 a time.
Or a dodgy banking app that convinces you to put your banking details into somehow (much the same as those phishing emails you get 4000 times a day in your email).

Note: We were having problems downloading pictures and I was getting 'Cannot download message' when my wife or my sis sent me a picture message, and also wife's mum got same problem. This app bypassed that problem, though everyone involved needs to have the app installed.

I use this with my eldest girl, so that she doesn't have to use her credit. It uses a lot of memory though, so I wouldn't have it were it not for her being on PAYG.
My old Xperia X10 is at a standstill anyway!
Plus we have new baby so picture messages are all the rage. I try to stop her using it, but she already understands the technology better'n I do...

(Belated?) congrats on the new baby! I used to video only the happy bits when my girls were little, so now when I watch them back, it looks like it was all just one big laugh. I've now almost forgotten the tortuous sleeplessness, the stench of endless poo, and the terrible screaming. Almost.

Thanks. All good so far, though she has managed to poo into my wife's face. I've got away with that particular delight so far.
Only eight weeks old (and she was six weeks premature), but I shall endeavour to video a tantrum. If only to play it back at her wedding.
No probs re: apps. Hope to get new phone soon, as this one has slowed to the standard response time of Windows.

Following Dan's heads up, I've got a Nexus 7, and I'm now trying to get around it's shortcomings. For a start, it doesn't do flash out of the box, so I had to research and implement a work around, which was necessary for 4od. Unfortunately, it doesn't work perfectly, and you can't expect to go back to show you've half watched without watching it all from the start, because there's no progress thingy at the bottom. Any suggestions?
The SkyFire browser is Flash-enabled, so that might be a way around it.
I think Flash has been withdrawn (by Flash themselves) from Google Play, so that's why it's not there anymore.
