I was enjoying that until you qualified it !

:D

Well I thought that was excellent - apart from Huh Edwards, Trevor Nelson and Macca - obviously.

Shocked by the tackiness of Team GB outfits though. They looked like the kind of shit they have to flog in the shopping channel task on The Apprentice.

The news reporter after was thrilled to be able to tell us that the Team GB outfits were made (and presumably designed) by 'high street retailer Next'.

That was as embarrassing and cloying as I imagined it might be. And to think there'll be another one for the Paralympics in a few weeks!

Re Boris, they're not supposed to be able to make political profit from the Olympics. Politicians aren't even allowed to touch the torch. (No, just direct financial profit with their massive back-handers.)

Tubular Bells and small girls in beds, where's the vomit and spinning heads

In about 5 million living rooms I'd imagine. What the f**k was all that about? NHS? What was that, a political statement? What did all that crap have to do with athletics? It all just proves that the Olympics is the gayest festival on earth. 27 million quid wasted on a camp bit of theatre when it could have gone on the NHS. Sick

I likqed Trevor Nelson's statement that their staff didn't have a sense of natural rhythm. Weird for an institution like the NHS to face such prejudice, (or prejud-nhs); a twist on what's meant by 'institutional racism'.

I really do hope that the Daily Mail is ripping into the Beeb today. For once, they deserve it.

You're in a minority on this one by wishing it was marching bands, Coldstream guards and Spitfire cliches.

Really enjoyed the opening ceremony, although I wish they'd used Maccas piano as kindling to light the torch. There will be no thumbs up salute after that performance.

The ceremony was all about great British stuff (in his opinion).

I was hoping to see 5000 ballet dancers dressed as riot police shoving 5000 big issue sellers over.

If cynicism was an Olympic event, this forum would have gold sorted.

I loved the opening ceremony, brilliantly inventive and full of British humour, shame Macca nearly ruined it at the end.

The children's book section was my favourite bit. The Mary Poppinses killed Voldemort!

I didn't see that much of it but what I saw I liked. Well done London!

Contrary to my worst fears, I thought it was brilliant.
I think it could have been filmed a lot better - the camera director wants shooting.
And I think the rest of the world won't get it.
But that's probably the point.
Made me proud.

Here here, this was our day and the last thing I wanted to see was a bland mass sychronised parade.

There were people I didn't know celebrated such as Quacker Abraham Darby whose coke fuelled furnace revolutionised the world. But I now want to know about him and revisit the Tempest.

Like to have seen Darwin, Crick/Watson and Concord make an appearance but that's a small gripe. Danny Boyle did us proud.

I suspect among the moaners are those sad pathetic 'patriots' you find at England matches and EDL marches don't any culture or identity beyond abusing foreigners.
