What ever happened to critique?

When Sootyj first started with BCG critique was the crown jewels. Talented writers would write and give feedback. There'd often be 10-20 sketches or sitcoms a day, some rotten, some sublime.

But it was a bubbling ferment of good ideas.

And now well hardly anyone posts.

Was splitting it into showcase that did it in? Or was it hiding it from those not signed in?

Either way spare a thought for this poor ailing thread.

I personally can't be arsed to wade through all the rejects from the latest show taking submissions. I don't think they're bad, I just can't be arsed.

You might be right about the hiding it from unregistered users though.

Why not do something like I did, when I created the Sketch Comp? You want to support the community, then promote it on other forums.

On the one hand they have the requisite number of wankers.

On the other they're really not into comedy.

I haven't looked at critique for a couple of years now - except ones that get closed.

Silly soots! Thought it was a genuine concern. You had raised a good point about a dying community, which we need to resurrect.

It is genuine concern I'm always serious when I'm not.

Do you have any suggestions on how we can bring it back to life?

Erm I write some skits and people offer feedback?

Free Beer?

Be nice to Sunshine?

I don't know.
Everyone on here is always so supportive of it.
Mods & Muggles alike

I suggest a Freve masterpiece, or a half written sketch that Lee wrote when stoned but can't remember what the punchline was gonna be.

Would be good to see more on there from regulars, not just fly by nights who post their offerings and then disappear.

Well you'll be pleased to know that Aaron doesn't really like the writer's section. So you know he'll have our full support with whatever we come up with. :)

Erm, not to be rude or anything, but half the critique threads I do look at (which isn't many, admittedly) seem to consist of some newbie with one post posting their work and you, sooty saying how unbelievably shit it is (in a very creative and sometimes amusing way, but still). I know you don't really mean any harm, but how encouraging do you think that really is to new people?
The critique thread isn't really my area, but that may be something to think about, anyway.

:D

I hadn't realised that Critique was hidden from non-members. I can sort of see why Mark would want it that way but it's a choice that's definitely going to have an impact on the number of people posting in that area.
