Things that piss you off Page 1,055

Why would it amaze you? You just said yourself that gay men hit on men, and not women. A woman can talk to a gay man without fear of an ulterior sexual motive, and a gay man is generally not a sexual threat to a straight woman due to the very nature of hetrosexuality. That this isn't just common sense is bizarre.

Well I get that, but I assume that people are interested in things outside of their direct experience. And male gay sexuality is so rampant and different to female sexuality that I would expect there to be more good old fashioned disgust or at least head-scratching. I've never been able to interest a straight woman in the opportunity of being rimmed by four strangers in a darkened room.

Many (most) women have been sexually harrassed by straight men at some point in their lives, I've been sexually harrassed more times than I can remember.

That was the point I was making. 'It's men that are the problem'.

If you genuinely can't go into a gym sauna without finding cottaging going on then the gyms need to deal with that.

Actually the gay men need to deal with it. Like stop doing it.

I was walking back to my car in a car park yesterday and there was a girl a few metres ahead of me. Her car happened to be next to mine. Anyway, just as she was opening her door, I did the old central locking thing to open my car door. The moment my car made the 'unlocked' noise, this girl just span round and stared at me as if I'd shouted "Get yer tits out, love". Then she got back in her car and drove off.

Why do people take such affront at you existing?

Several times, I've been walking behind someone who is very slow and when I say "Excuse me, can I get past?", they spin round and stare at me as if I'm the rudest man in Britain. It's not just them being a bit shocked, either, as they stare at me for far too long.

A gay friend of mine said the reason there's so much homophobia is envy.

Because gay guys are the only guys who get to have sex with guys who genuinely think about sex the same way as them.

I mean who wouldn't want to go to the pub; have a pint talk about bollox. Then go in the toilet and recieve a no strings blow job.

Nope, that's not it Sootyj

What else could it be?

Do you want to wear an ascot and stylish deck shoes?

So I can blame you for the sexually aggressive behaviour of other heterosexual men? You think the 'all men are the same, they're only after one thing' nonsense is actually fair?

The small group of men using the gym sauna for sex do not represent all gay men, and clearly they aren't the types of people who are that considerate to other people, so if you want it to stop you have to get the gym to do something about it. It would be great if thieves stopped stealing and drug dealers stopped dealing, but some people need some coersion to behave in accordance with the law.

Maybe you've got a bogie hanging out of your nose?

Plenty of men think about sex more than anything else and do all kinds of things with their lives to increase their access to sexual opportunities. Some men have little or no sex drive. The numbers don't matter.

Generally the dependence upon each other of men and women irons out problems with the unequal sexual approaches of the two genders. A straight man might want to have sex with a girl he doesn't know and just passes in the street but (generally) she won't let him. Male sexuality has evolved to maximise reproductive success. Where there is no possibility of reproduction - as in a gay relationship you don't have this evolution and you have great promiscuity. A gay man will catch a man's eye in the street and they'll go in a toilet and do it.

It doesn't matter whether I think this is a bad thing or a good or something in between - it is reality.

It isn't a small group of men - it's a majority. You must lead a very sheltered life, every gay man I know has Grindr on their phone and even two guys I know in a civil partnership go cruising regularly both separately and together.

Do they hang out with your gardener? You'll have to forgive me if I'm disinclined to believe everything you say.

There are many promiscuous gay men, there are many monogamoua gay men. The same goes for straight men, straight women and gay women. Extrapolating your experience to the whole population is an unwise thing to do.

Quite.

Of course there are exceptions, but then there are also trends.

I mean a big debate in the catholic church is that of the celibate gay man. e.g. are you still gay if you are merely attracted to men but abstain from sex?

I think Godot has a point that male sexuality is "usually" more aquisitive and agressive. Meaning that two people with a male sex drive are likely to be more promiscuos.

The problem is that it's just a guess made by people who are outside of that group based on anecdotal evidence.

Unless you are a gay man isn't this what you are doing yourself though?

Being aware of different societal and biological approaches to what is viewed by the self in gender terms as more acceptable sexual habits and outcomes is not the same thing as seeming to say that all people of a certain sex who are attracted to people of a certain sex can be categorised together in any other way because of that circumstance. It certainly doesn't extend to potentially claiming that all gayers are f**king in public facilities and are AFTER YOU.
