Perhaps some of you lot can do the same, have a little party for the Games - the opening ceremony will have lots of singing and dancing and pretty costumes and you guys could make veggie burgers with gluton free buns and talk about your feelings over a bottle of Lambrini.

GLUTEN. Just to be picky. I sometimes see a signs beside food in cafes or on menus saying that it is Gluton free- I usually walk straight out again, if you can't spell it not sure I should trust you to feed me.

And since you bought up burgers and gluten- burger joints that offer a gluten free bun but then put gluten in the meat or sauces for the middle.

My sudden inability to have a proper lie-in, even when I need it. Recently I wake up at 9am on the dot every weekend, despite being completely exhausted and irrespective of the time I go to bed.

And the weather is turning hot next week. I don't like hot weather, I've been very satisfied with the rain so far.

Console
I empathise with the sleep problem but don't wish for more rain, please!
Going on a canal boat next week and I need the sun.

:) Love canal boats, been on a trip to 'Kennet and Avon' with about 30 locks!!

But boy was it relaxing- and the reverse steering was very tough for me!

The weather is getting warmer in south, hope it rains less here in north as I'm going in campervan next week!. Rolling eyes

Relaxing is good and what I need.

TThere are lots of lovely pubs on canals with good food, after a long day with the locks so lovely to relax without sounds of traffic!.

I struggle to get up for work for the entire five days of the working week, then on the weekend I will often wake up easily by work time. Generally hate the mornings though and don't feel awake much before 9.30 even when I go to bed early.

Depending on the curtains on your windows & the direction they face, it might be that the sun shines right on your eyelids at 9am. Similar thing happens to me.

Consider getting a sleep mask.

You can also get blackout curtains. They help you sleep with the added bonus of protecting against aerial bombing.

:D

I read somewhere that it takes your body three days to adjust to any new routine. So if you are used to getting up early every day, then it's hardwired in and your body doesn't recognise the weekend.

The only way I know to counteract the internal body clock is to drink vast amounts of booze the night before. Not the best system, but it does work.

Put that ruddy light out

Angry

I don't use curtains at all as I have skylights and if my room is dark I don't wake up at all (I have a special dawn-simulating alarm for the winter). But it's odd that I have just started waking up early at the weekend, I've been starting work between 7am-8am for years. I think Bill must have the answer - damn you, summer!

Insomnia is actually a surprisingly dangerous condition.

2 things that work

1 pills herbal or pharmaceutical allow you to decide when you fall asleep

2 forcing yourself to stay awake for a day or 2 gives you some spare sleep to make yourself fall asleep when you want to.

That said anxiety and depression can f**k up sleep patterns completely.

It's not that serious, I'm just waking up at a reasonable hour!

True I love waking up at 6am and thinking I have a whole hour before I I need to get up. Then luxuriating in an hour of doing nothing.
