Things that piss you off Page 1,038
Quote: Harridan @ July 17 2012, 11:31 AM BSTI nearly vomited when I Googled 'kittens' for you, so you're not alone there.
Thanks for putting yourself through that on my behalf pal. Appreciated.
Quote: Shandonbelle @ July 17 2012, 11:32 AM BSTCuppa tea?
Coffee please. And a cigarette. And a politician/Nat's bitch woman/Harridan's wanker employer to scream at. Ta.

I... Um... I just don't know what to say.
I have brightened slightly after finding an essential back of an earring I spent ages looking for, in my bra.
Quote: Harridan @ July 17 2012, 11:04 AM BSTJust turned on my TV to find that my employer has cancelled the sky subscription for my room, which is fine, I guess, but I had loads of stuff recorded that I wanted to watch and now I can't watch them. Would it kill this guy to give me a heads up once in a while? A couple of weeks ago he woke me up at 8:45am on a Sunday to show a builder a crack on my wall - he knew the builder was coming round so why not let me know the day before, or even just 10 minutes before he was going to come into my room? Gah!
That is pretty f**king outrageous. Just because you are 'live in' doesn't mean that you don't have a right to privacy and at least 24 hours notice.
And what a meanie for cancelling your Sky. Tell them you need a raise to pay for your own Sky subscription and use the money to buy extra locks for your room.
Seriously, check out your rights and the laws regarding your employer. He could have broken many by not giving you notice and not respecting your privacy.
I know you wouldn't want to create awkardnessness but he seems to have done that already.

Pah more like 50 shades of gay.
But they are taking the piss, are you actually happy there?
nb I know with London getting out of paying rent is such a huge factor visa vi living a happy low stress life.
It's not too bad, really - they are a lovely family. I'm just very protective over my private space and it seems a lot of people have a hard time viewing my room as my space rather than their spare bedroom. I was considering taking a live-out position, but the small difference in pay wouldn't be enough to pay for the scummiest bedsit and adding commuting onto a 12 hour day would just be hell.
If they are a lovely family, then a lock on your door should be no trouble. Even offer to pay for it.
Don't be silly. I'm British, I grin and bear the infuriating things that happen to me and then whinge about them to other people. Doing something that confrontational would explode my brain.
Hah, yes. Of course.

nb have you figured out what your virtual pay is?
e.g. rent, bills, food, tax not paid, pocket money etc.
nb 12 hour day? You seem a bright, intelligent capable person. Are you sure you're exploring all your options?
Take any job in the public sector and you instantly become entitled to key worker digs. Where the rent is set 25-30% below market average.
And a home where they don't respect your space as your space is a pretty big deal.

Thanks for the concern, but actually it does suit me. I earn quite a good amount at the moment, and it's a job that allows me to study and be flexible. It's a 12 hour day, but I usually get about 2-3 hours to do what I like while the baby naps. I'm planning on buying a place in a few years when I've saved a little more, so I won't be putting up with it for too long. If only I could get them to stop with the meatballs...

Is this some sort of inappropriate behaviour by the husband?
No it's Harridan rubbing my nose in the one thing she has over me.
Meatballs.
She gets 'em lots.
Lucky bint.
Interestingly enough I was considering a very similar deal with keyring housing. Where I got a free flat, no bills all in exchange for being available in emergencies (never more than 6 hours a week).
Ultimately it came down to the choice.
Do I want to be able my front door drunk and in my underpants?
I realised I'm willing to pay about £600 a month for that privilege.
Every single bloody time I see 'G4S' anywhere I think of that rubbish opera pop boy band.

I initially think of the pop band and then think of iphones. Both piss me off.
