For Aaron Page 4

I like to eat fruit in a burger. Namely, pineapple. Alongside beetroot, egg, lettuce, and bacon. Mmmmmm.

Mmmmmm, bloody love beetroot.

Lol, it's not one or the other!
Most people manage to eat fruit AND the odd burger.

One would hope so. When last in Australia, I had lunch at the house of a guy who was making some timber products for me. His lunch consisted of a cold McDonald's value meal he had purchased the previous day. He then proudly showed me the contents of his fridge - four more McDonald's value meals, and declared: "That's me lunches taken care of for the resta this week." There was no fruit in his kitchen. It's a worry that people have been conditioned to enjoy eating unhealthy crap. More sad is that throughout Asia, some traditional food stalls are being replaced by bland same-old Western fast-food/convenience store crap. Asians are starting to get fat.

Well he sounds like a freak.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: beets have no place on a burger.

Would a person still look weird if they had say, four lettuce heads in their fridge?

Ignoring the heads in their fridge bit.

Yeah but you don't think beans should be in chilli :S

Beets no. Beetroot yes. ;)

According to the International Chili Society's rules for cooking competitions:

1.  Traditional Red Chili is defined by the International Chili Society as any kind of meat or combination of meats,
cooked with red chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA which are strictly forbidden.

Same thing, right?

Yes. But the word beets makes me laugh for some reason.

Yes, but if it's nice then why not? And I don't recognise the International Chili Society. I follow the values and traditions of the International Do What The F**k You Want (within the law) Society. Who clearly state, Do What the F**k...

So why don't you call them potatoroot, carrotroot and turniproot? Silly Europeans ...

Yes, but if it's nice then why not?

Because it's not nice. Beans are tasteless filler for what should be more meaty goodness. ;)

To distinguish them from the edible leaves?

Beeeeeeeets. It's like that bit in Shaun of the Dead when they're shouting 'Peeete' up the stairs.

Do you ever eat kidney beans in any form? Beans are lovely, baked beans are one of the greatest things in the world. BEANS BEANS THE MUSICAL FRUIT!

If Europeans are eating beet leaves then you're even stranger than I'd thought possible. :S

I made a huge pot of red beans and rice last week. They have their place, but their place is not in chili.
