Turning 30

Yes, so, I've only got two months of my 20s left. I'm not too bothered really about turning 30 as I've still got a good head of hair. I don't feel as though I achieved much in my 20s though, so that's a regret. I'd like to have completed some 'further education', but that's going to spill over into my 30s as I left it so late. Still, there's been plenty of good times in my 20s, so it's not been a terrible period, but I should have laid a few more foundations.

How did others cope/feel?

Ben. For me life gets better and better (I'm mid 30's). Despite being married and having a couple of binlids, I still enjoy my social time as I appreciate it more. For example, I spent yesterday a a beer festival, off on a boat trip next week plus the football season is fast approaching (away days with the lads).

Embrace it.......

I don't think you should beat yourself up about not achieving what you feel you should have - everyone has different priorities at different points in their lives. I imagine you are comparing yourself to other people your age, but everyone has different life experiences which lead them in different directions. Like you I'd have liked to be done with uni etc. years ago like other people my age, but I wasn't in the right headspace for uni then, and I'm getting more out of it now that I'm a mature OU student than I would have done when I was 18. Don't feel regret, you're hardly over the hill!

Can't remember, too long ago.

No need for regrets, especially if you also have your own teeth. You had plenty of good times and as a youngster that's how it should be! Good times and education are available for your whole life and as you get older there will be new things you want to learn/achieve/have a go at. New people come into your life, circumstances change, priorities, goals and ambitions change. You can't forsee this in your 20's - look back on them fondly, embrace your 30's and look forward to the future.

(said the very old person)

Zackly. Well put Loopey.

You're a year younger than me Ben.

I worried, too, but I really feel no different than I did at 29.

I wish I had completed my studies earlier, too, but I'm doing far better and much more committed to my course than I would have been at 18.

Good luck.

Well, when I was your age, I was 29.

I'm 'turning 40' next year, and still have the same thoughts I had in my 20s. It's nothing major.

Or boyfriends.

Ben, it's nothing to worry about and you don't have to compare yourself to others.
What's right for you is what's right for you.

But the hangovers take longer to recover from, from now on.

I will be even older than that in a couple of weeks and I still feel young at heart.

40 is the new 30. So 30 is the new 20. So no one has anything to worry about. :)
