British Comedy Guide

So Edinburgh

Who's going up?

Who's seeing what?

Who's performing?

What's especially good?

What's remarkably terribly?

And does anyone fancy meeting up?

(Sootyj also wanders if anyone knows of any open mike shows in need of a mediocre comic who's sort of a tryer)

I'm going for a Saturday.

I've got tickets for Simon Munnery, Tim Key, Rick Shapiro, Hannibal Buress and Kumail Nanjiani.

Fingers crossed I'll do a few Saturdays over the run. It means I don't have to book accommodation which is a bonus.

I'll be there from 4th-18th doing my show Visual Aids at Rush Bar from 3pm. I also have some evening dates the second week but I'm not sure of the venue just yet.

Hands up anyone else who's coming to the festival and let's arrange a BCG get-together.

I'm trying to be up there for the first week

I'm booked 7 to 14 August - planning to spend lots of time in the Pleasance Courtyard - as it's nice, full of venues and in walking distance of where I'm staying.

I've booked nothing yet - will definitely see Nick Helm and try to catch David's show. :). David where is that exactly?

Other than that will probably book things when I'm there.

Might have a go at an open mic too Sooty - and happy to meet up if people want to.

Yay for Edinburgh! Although London doesn't cope well without me - as soon as I went last year they started riots in Hackney and everyone was evacuated from work! Hopefully they'll behave this time.

:D

I'd get on that open Mic train nice and early, most of the people I know who had slots available on their shows are booked or nearly booked up already. While you're up give your number to and make it known to friendly sorts that you're available that week in case of last minute dropouts. There's a lot of fallthrough at fringe.

Thanks Nat - yes I did hear you should sort it all in advance - I'll just try on the offchance and as you say last minute replacement. :)

Otherwise I'll just go, laugh, be inspired. And occasionally look like this

Thanks David - yep from being someone who tried to avoid Hackney at all costs I ended up working and living there. Apart from the constant threat of violence (and that's just between me and the bus drivers - boom, boom!) it has it's moments.

Hackney Empire is cool on occasion and am loving the new cinema - founder member! And Saturday I'm going to the big Radio One Hackney weekend for free. Plus it's only a short walk from here!

I know this event is probably seen as a bad thing by most people but I'm looking forward to it. :)

I'll probably sort out seeing your show once I'm up there - I really should start looking at the listings shouldn't I?...

Can you get me the same, but deep fried?

Apart from doing banal punchlines to Sootyj's set-up, I have actually come on to this thread to say I will be in Edinburgh from 10th-13th August, arriving on the Friday evening. Would be good to do BCG drinks if you'll have me. I will also be watching some of that comedy stuff on Saturday and Sunday. Anyone care to join me, e.g. for Stewart Lee?
