Revival of The Audience Sitcom discussion

This is for those that don't pay much attention to our news service - this link might be worth checking out: https://www.comedy.co.uk/news/news.php?story=000374

It should be of interest to all sitcom fans (it certainly has my attention), but especially to comedy writers. If you're looking to go down the mainstream sitcom route I'd say it'd certainly be worth attending - there should be lots of tips, advice and, with Lucy Lumsden on the panel also suggestions about what the BBC will be looking for in regards to this genre going forward.

As a BSG reader you get in at guild rates too :) (i.e. Just a £5 a ticket). Send your cheques in now!

p.s. Both Aaron and myself are going to be in the audience so if you do go and spot us come and say hello!

How do we book?

If you can't work that out you probably shouldn't venture outside... its a dangerous world!

To answer your question though, you should post a cheque for £1000 to me and I'll make sure you get a ticket ;)

Either that or you could do as hotzappa11 suggests and click the link. The address to send your cheque to is at the bottom of the news article (one assumes if you include your address the Guild will post the ticket back to you). Don't forget to mention the BSG in the letter to them so you get the ticket for £5 instead of £10!

Thank you - I'll remember you in my will!

I'd love to go to that, but unfortunately, it's in London, which rules me out. Unless someone wants to pay for my flight/taxis etc. :)

I will pay. But you will then owe!

Nothing is worth that repayment plan.

You can tell who Aaron and Mark are as they will be the only two people holding hands :)

He says that - and he thinks it's a lie.

Any writers who've been reading about this event and wavering over whether or not to go... if seeing me and Aaron apparently holding hands isn't enough to get you along, here's something which should definitely tempt you to stick the 12th Feb in your diary and get your ticket request in ASAP:

Apparently at the end of the discussion there's going to be a mini-pitching opportunity. From what I understand, for a bit of fun at the end, members of the audience will be given 30 seconds to pitch a sitcom idea to the panel and then get feedback on it.

OK, it's not going to be a make or break career pitch for you - but it is a chance to get feedback on your idea from some of the top people in the industry, most notably BBC1's Lucy Lumsden - the woman in control of the biggest comedy commissioning budget in this country.
