John Terry

What do people think about the current court case?

Terry is accused of using racist language in calling another player a "f**king black c**t." Regardless of whether he did this or not why has no-one pointed out that describing someone as 'black' is not actually racist or offensive since it is not a bad thing to be black? To argue that Terry intended it to be offensive is to court more absurdity, since you cannot insult someone without being offensive.

Racism is about abusing power and limiting people's opportunities through prejudice. Since Terry has no power over Ferdinand there's no racism there either.

Sorry went a bit Dr Who there.

I don't think it should have gone to a courtroom.
When there's a lot more that should.

Well calling someone black isn't racist, but doing in a context that implies being black is a negative (especially accompanied by swear words) is racist.

I don't think John Terry is racist, but I think he has said something that is racist and should be punished for that accordingly.

But what is accordingly?

There are some really important issues here. But I can't bring myself to give them any thought when they involve scumbag waste of oxygen footballers.

John Terry is a c**t. A white c**t as it happens. I have no idea whether Ferdinand is a c**t but he is certainly black.

I think he's innocent. Every time I've been to Stamford Black, I've never heard him shout abuse at a player with Bridgey skin.

Bridgey wouldn't even shake his hand.

What amuses me is that the simple word 'black' causes offence but not being called a f**king c**t.

Could it be because black people don't mind being black until someone calls them black?

No.

You have to consider it as a possibility . .

I did! And then I came up with that eloquent and verbose response.

I dunno, presumably whatever the law says. I was just saying he was guilty.
