Took a small detour on the way into work this morning to take in the Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park. Lots of wreaths and messages from those remebering loved ones cut down in their prime seven decades ago. I welled up a bit.

Ha ha, I went to visit someone in hospital yesterday wearing trainers and it was raining.
Every step I took through the hospital corridors made a loud squeaking noise.

Today a stranger gave me an affectionate squeeze of the shoulders and said
'if only you could dear,' followed by a pat on the head and a 'lovely' smile.
Not sure if she thought I couldn't understand more than 5 words or if she was too choked up with sympathy to finish the sentence.
