Currently reading Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell. It's an intriguing account of his days living in and just about out of poverty.

Got "some kind of fairy tale" the new graham joyce book today

half way through it.

Incredible stuff

But £3.99 in The Works !

:)

' Heart of Darkness'- Joseph Conrad.

Always wanted to read this, began on holiday, it is all about slavery in the Belgium Congo. I'm half way through and We are still stranded in the rainforest of the Congo river.

I had to read that many years ago at university and found it so boring I can't remember anything about it. However maybe I should rake it out and reread now I'm more mature (I think?)

Am going to gorge myself of my two shiny new books, 'I Partridge' by the man himself and 'The Psychopath Test' by Jon Ronson.

I've got a bit crazy and are now trying to read 6 books all at the same time. Specifically:
.
The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald
2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Moby Dick by Herman Merville
The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes
Red Plenty by Francis Spufford.

My poor brain.

I don't mean novels

Factual stuff

I like to read about real people and real life

Btw - I've never read 2001, but I assume it must be incredibly dull going off the film!!?

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I love this book so much. Although my copy is now randomly autographed on the back page by George Michael!

Well that must be dull and depressing.

No idea. Only on like page 3. And I thought the film was really fascinating even if it is confusing as f**k. Hopefully the book is more explanatory.

Huh, that's random. Maybe in his spare time he just goes around breaking into people's houses and signing random books?

Heh, should've explained, but it's not that interesting so didn't bother- there was no call for me to say it at all really. Ages ago I had a cabbie who I was chatting about reading with, and it's turned into a cab ride book group. I loaned him LoP and George M was one of his customers so he got him to sign it apropos of nothing, bless him. Cabbie has loaned me Ataturk: The Rebirth of a Nation by Patrick Kinross, but it is a hefty mofo and I haven't got around to it yet

It's an alright story. Proves my theory wrong that all cabbies are rapists/murderers though.

I love this.
