Things that piss you off Page 1,016

It's a bad thing, especially these days, parents should know better. There is no excuse. Don't smoke near them, don't poke their eyes with needles, don't drop them from a great height. It's all in the updated handbook.

Of course it's a bad thing. I don't understand what the problem is about expressing that opinion. Or expressing any opinion, it is of my own thinking on a public forum.

Like I said I smoke too and I do all of the things mentioned by AJGO, I just make sure I don't smoke near my child. I didn't say anything to the parents because it's none of my business but I'd have thought I'm allowed an opinion.

I don't think it's even in the same league as me being judged for not baking a cake.

Rant over and if I've got it all wrong then apologies. Perhaps cut me some slack, eh?

Of course you are entitled to an opinion, but just don't expect for everyone to agree with you or not debate it.

The 'offence' may not have been in the same league, but your sentiments that people shouldn't make snap judgements about parenting skills based on superficial evidence did seem somewhat hypocritical.

Both my parents smoked around us in the house when we were children, it didn't mean they didn't love us or look after us. But those were different times and people are more up on the dangers these days.

And you did mention you were waiting for a bus, so I assume it was all happening out doors, so the children were probably in more danger of breathing and absorbing traffic fumes then a slight whiff of second hand smoke.

I guess you had to be there. Literally blowing smoke on their faces, no slight whiff about it.
If you'd seen it you may have used the word 'chav'.

I hate chavs on sight, so would have agreed with you even if they weren't abusing their kids.

Now don't get started on young Mums who use their pram / buggy as a battering ram / traffic tester. Then you will see a real rant.

;)

Well sure, but that's a posion out of their control, don't add to it! You can control that.

Chavviest thing I ever saw?

A woman wheeling her baby along in a buggy, trying to light a fag in the strong wind.
Eventually, having failed to light up, she stuck her head under the hood of the pram and sparked up in there.

Classy.

Whenever you see parents with a toddler in something like Burger King, shoving chips and shit down their throat. Idiots.

I agree, McDonalds has better chips and you get a toy with the Happy Meal.

I've never thought I'm perfect, far from it. I'm opinionated, mental and have a big fat arse.

The point is, that got to me. I refrained from posting more but their attitude was just preposterous. That saying about glass houses is very true and I try to think about it before I open my mouth or commit finger to keypad though.

It was just one of those families that swear to and in front of the kids, the dad with a can of lager first thing in the morning. I don't think there's an excuse for that.

And RC, the comment about disliking you was actually in jest. Of course, I still don't like you.

It's only an issue when you see a big fat family with their big fat toddlers. Taking a kid into Maccy D's for a happy meal as a one off treat is hardly the worst thing.

I can only agree with the opinionated and mental bits, haven't see your big fat arse.

Hrumph! I'll see you on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

;)

Hitler was a smoker

Sure, if it is a once in a blue moon one off. Though not if it's a very young kid, I think. You shouldn't be feeding toddlers that shit even if it is a one off. I just think, if you're fool enough to want a kid in the first place, you should hold yourself to very high standards; feed 'em proper, all that shit.

Hitler was a smoker

And a dog loving vegetarian - though both dog lovers and vegatarians are trying to redact history so they're not associated with him, but too late, they have about as much chance as the one bollock brigade.

And I bet Hitler never threw his McDonalds wrappers out of the car window in the parking lot, even though he parked right next to the bins.

Hitler was a smoker

And a fabulous dancer.
