Bloody hell that's a lot. My trip is about fours or so as well, and my last ticket cost me about sixty quid and that was first class (cheap upgrade option for about a tenner or so.

Cheapeast standard one way ticket from Middlesbrough- £30 (timesed by two, as its actually cheaper thn returns), acommodation £40 as a dirty squallor minimum, £11 just to get to the station and back, £15 as minimum to eat for a day, £5-£10 on Oyster card, £20odd on drinks (although that wouldnt get me many- crazy London prices!).

Yes, but it is a daytime drink, so you can all get back to your hovels in time to beat the kids (and the dog) before you drunkenly fall asleep on the couch with doner kebab in your hair.

*DaButt and reds must think it ridiculous that British people consider 100 miles is a really long travelling distance*

Must remember to get a dog.

Just Googled and that's the roughly the equivilant of 160km, so about 2 hour drive. I wouldn't say it was just up the street, but wouldn't call it a long trip, especailly not if it was to stay overnight somewhere.

When I was a kid my family would sometimes drive to Melbourne for Christmas. It would take about 2 1/2 - 3 days ,that's a long trip. That was with one drivier, apparently you can do it in about 20 hours with two people, if you only stop for fuel.

Back when I started driving, 100 miles was not far then, even though there were NO motorways, but now it is lots more tiring as there are lots more cars getting in the way.

And soon for a friend's BBQ, I have to drive right through London, from North to South, which is probably the most tiring kind of driving of all, & then about 20 miles south of London's 'edge', which is not too bad.

How about megabus?

Have you BEEN on a magabus? It's like 7 hours in actual hell. I vowed never to get a bus/coach to London again after the last time.

No but I like the jolly man in the yellow uniform on the side.
I mean how can a service with such an excelent logo be any less than fab?

Megabus makes me want to self harm. National Express is barely better.

I quite like National Express when it isnt crowded

I must remember to beat the dog and the hamster.

Have fun everyone.

Look after Booo, though I suspect you'll need looking after once you've met her.

:-)

Oi! Eh?

Why not beat the dog with the hamster to save time? You could tie it to a broomhandle to save your clothes from getting soiled.

You do realise that Belgium is closer to London then your Viking settlement.
