Now, if only you could find a way for drug dealers to not hang around the legitimate outlets offering harder wares to brain dead pot heads.

The drug dealer has to make a profit; cut into his client base and increase price differentials, and it becomes much harder work for him to cut a profit on his premium wares.

That is why sootyj insists that every pilot, surgeon and child minder must smoke at least 10 spliffs a day.

THC is toxic, it is a poison, it is illegal because it is harmful in a variety of ways. Now, whether you agree with it's legality or not, it is generally not good for you.

I'm sure opium users at the end of the 19th century also put forward similar arguments to the beneficial nature of their addiction.

Prohibition of alcohol lead to anarchy; massive ill health, crime and death.

You're a smoker. An addictive, harmful substance but you understand the risks and consequences and take responsibility.

Yes it's harmful. But do you honestly want to live in a society where all the hammers are rubbers, all bikes have stabilisers and flashing lights are banned?

Au contraire mes ami, if you've ever been to Amsterdam, you'll have no doubt encountered numerous drug dealers plying their wares on the streets.

I believe that a kilo of cocaine is worth much more then a kilo of grass.

Yeah, but The Untouchables was a lot of fun, so you win some you lose some.

Would you be happy with letting a 5 year old smoke dope? If not, then why not?

Would you get in the back of a mini-cab if you knew the driver was stoned? If not, then why not?

Glibly brushing aside the dangers does not make it less harmful.

I'd say decriminalise not legalise dope.

And tax any junk food meal at higher than 600 calories (and other health considerations).

Set a minimun cost of 50p a unit of alcohol etc.

Reading the comments on here, you'd think that Chronic was a miracle cure for all of society's problems and that it was less harmful then drinking a cup of tea and less addictive then a plate of boiled cabbage.

No, everyone knows it can have harmful effects, including those in favour of it.

No need to call me a dope. But I am one because in my legally untrained mind, I can't figure out the difference between decriminalise and legalise.

Eh? That's a terrible argument, RC!

In what way? People are saying that spliff is on par with alcohol. I have seen parents letting their children have a sip of wine, why not a toke on a fat old blim?

And Bugsy Malone. At least when I was about eight.

Which I'm not

but I'd feel the same about if either were drunk

Quote: Marc P @ June 30 2012, 11:47 AM BST

I had a toke on a roll up the other week but that was the first for many years, and I was assured it was a straight. Been having funny dreams since mind and a craving for sandwiches!

:D Naughty boy

Almost everyone I know who smokes spliff is a middle-aged male.
That these pleasant adults, who work all day and have a wee toke of an evening in front of the telly, are technically criminals is not only insulting but also quite embarrassing to a civilised society.

smoke is inherently dangerous

but a nibble of lower powered hash cake

why not

nb I don't smoke dope

I just love liberty and freedom

In every way. Who knows why peole deem it acceptable to give kids a cheeky sip but not a toke on a fag, or a spliff, but they don't. I suppose people see some fundamental difference between inhaling damaging smoke into their lungs, and drinking liquids. Though of course, having one little sip of a pint prob won't affect even a child that much, where as a big gulp of dope will have more of an effect. You need to do less to see its effects, so even one toke could f**k a child up, so it wouldn't be smart. Though all the kid would probably do is down a tube of pringles then collapse on a bean bag.
