The Olympics?
And national anthems aren't merely for sporting events. Eesh.

Quote: Oldrocker @ June 24 2010, 12:48 AM BSTJust listened to an interview with Joe Cole.
If you missed it, allow me to help.
'y'know, it's well, y'know, it's well,y'know, it's well,like we played y'know, it's well,it's great to play in a y'know, it's well,whoever it is well, y'know, it's well,y'know, in the knockout stage it's well,y'know, it's well,whoever.'
So that's clear then.
Well worth a knighthood. Gets my vote, y'know, it's well.
How do you feel about the '66 players receiving honours, eg Jack Charlton OBE?

Well, they won the World Cup at least. This lot won't.

Oldrocker was talking about them winning the trophy, then receiving honours.

A serious question for you catskillz. Do you genuinely view these footballers as people who deserve our respect and admiration?

We haven't lost once in this group, and finished top, which is pretty impressive.

If they win the trophy, then they deserve our admiration for being great sportsmen. If the '66 players were given honours for winning the trophy, then why shouldn't these players get some if they do the same?

These things are often decided on penalties, which involves a lot of luck. Add to that the fact that half the teams are suffering from the altitude, and everyone says the ball is weird, and I'd say that anyone could win, whether or not they are any good at sports.

Scoring a penalty has nothing to do with luck; it's a physical skill. Please respect the craft.
The good thing is that England have a nice revenge route through to the final.
And the tabloids can really go over the top as we try to settle old scores with the Krauts & Argies.
While the Germans & the Argentinians think Rivalry? we never get to play England that much they are usually on their way home by the time we get going.

You could really accept Sir John Terry ?
It'll be an OBE or MBE at best/worst.
And we can make up our own Anachronymssms

Next game in the Euros is
England Vs France.
I can't help it but I'm getting excited.
Yes we will doubtless underperform as usual.
But the little glimmer of hope is a fun one to enjoy until the first whistle goes.
