On the other hand, you might just be put on antibiotics. Now the last time that happened to me, I ended up begging the dentist, on a Friday, to take the tooth out. He wouldn't agree because his son( my dentist) was obviously trying to save it. Over that weekend my entire face swelled like a balloon. In due course the tooth came out! Thought that would cheer you up!
Seriously, when I'm in the dentist's chair I remind myself of the horror treatments people have for real diseases (e.g. chemotherapy).

Nevermind the pain, think of the cost.
The bit in Castaway when Tom Hanks realises he's stranded with toothache and no dentist.
Scares me more than anything in cinema.
Ever.

That's pain!
The fox has just stared in at me so pitifully that I had to defrost some meat for him
Aww.
Have you given him a name?

You probably didn't see the half-hour he spent practicing that pitiful look.
Ben is sat round waiting for Louis Theroux to start.
START!
Thanks Ben I forgot Louis was on.
Quote: billwill @ June 10 2012, 2:23 AM BSTOn Bank Holiday Monday, Billwill went walkies along parts of the New River.
The photos of his walk are now up in the usual place (on the server here at home).
Quote: dellas @ June 10 2012, 4:41 AM BSTTa Will sooo beautiful! will like to view this 'serene walk'!
It's hard to imagine that those scenes are inside London, is it not?
Yet they are hidden behind the back streets of Palmers Green, Southgate and Enfield in North (& slightly-eastish) London
What's the white thing in the middle of the canal? A swan or a bag?
Quote: chipolata @ June 10 2012, 9:48 PM BSTWhat's the white thing in the middle of the canal? A swan or a bag?
It's not technically a canal, as no boats are allowed on it.
One of the white things is a white duck (a near shot and a far shot), the other (two photos) is a swan.

Surely boats were allowed on it at some point in its history? So it's still a canal?

Ah, yes. I've looked at the other pictures now. The birds are clearer.
Quote: lofthouse @ June 10 2012, 8:26 PM BSTI'm off to the dentist tomorrow as I think I've got an abcess on my gum
Anybody else ever had one?
Can I expect agonising terror akin to something out of marathon man?
Total sympathy Lofthouse. Tooth pain is the pits. I finally saw the dentist last week after being in discomfort for sometime. He said infection. Take this mouthwash. It got worse. I went to the GP. Probably an abscess but defitnitely not pleasant. Take these antibiotics. It's cleared up. So, unlikely to be an extraction from anywhere other than the wallet. Don't fret.
Interesting anomaly. Dentist - £ 17.50 plus £4 for the medicated mouthwash. GP - no charge for appointment and effectively no charge on a prescription as I'm on that many meds I prepay.

Ahh but the thing is whatever it is it isn't painful at all
Neither the gum or the tooth
Pisses me off cos I've always looked after my teeth
Oh well
Like you said - some poor sods have to go through far far worse!

Not really. Bill come up here and see some proper countryside and I will bill buy you an ale.
