I need to be able to use Word.

You could buy any brand and then use Google Docs or MSN Smartdrive Docs (whatever it's called). I don't think there is a Word app. I could be wrong though, I know nothing about Windows Mobile.

If you have no interest in technology and want to mainly use it for word processing then the last thing you probably want is a touch screen. Short texts write like a breeze but anything longer, well you've seen sooty's posts on here ;)

I really like my mobile network provider GiffGaff. No min contract, well no contract at all. I'm on the £10p/m package which gets me 250mins talk time, unlimited texts and truly unlimited internet. I love the unlimited internet without being tied to a contract. The only thing is it's a pay as you go only company, so they have no phone deals. You would have to buy one yourself. I was lucky enough to catch a deal on a smartphone down from £300 to £120. Wish I had bought more and sold them on after the deal ended >_<

Anyway, yeah. You could probably pick up a cheap Blackberry and find that you're happy with it.

Mobiles are not great for writing on.

However good the system and keyboard is. Abeit as Leevil points out they all come with a fair approximation of word.

If you carry a bag with you, you maybe better off with some sort of tablet or web book.

Videos/Spoken word on the BBC site and BBC iPlayer.

I think I'm missing some software as both return a message saying ' This content doesn't appear to be working. Please try again later.'

Any ideas Chums?

Updating your Flash Player is always a good place to start.

Just what I was gonna say.

I've seen roughly similar things from slow broadband, so if you can work out how to do it, try finding an option to download now & view later.

I don't recall how to do it, it seemed easy on iPlayer in the past, but then I couldn't easily find it again later.

Thanks for the above but still no workee. Given up.

Another question though.

My daughter stopped using her desktop in favour of a laptop some 18 months ago and it's lain idle since then. We've had a change round and the woman known as ASDA wants to use it to replace the Tiny machine she's using now.

Problem is that when it's switched on it goes to the user login page for my daughter and despite trying she can't remember the password= useless machine.

Any way round this Chums ?

Is there a way to log in as a guest? Guest accounts usually don't need passwords.

Did it work?

Er, yes.

Router playing up/faulty. :( Wired connections are working but wireless won't let anything connect to it. Annoying.

Often I can't get the sound to unmute on my pc (connected to a TV). I try muting and unmuting the TV, the PC, the media that's playing, all to no avail. Just now, I tried rebooting the PC, and turning the TV off and on; no joy. However, when I shut down the PC, turned off the TV, then rebooted before turning on the TV, the sound returned. But guess what, now I can't get the problem to reoccur which I want in order to repeat the test. So I don't know what combination of mutes and/or other things sets off the condition, but I do have a possible rebooting solution to it when it happens. Of course, rebooting in order to unmute isn't very convenient, so why might this be happening, and how to stop it?
