I don't care for babies. Far too easily breakable to be able to relax around.

Enjoy your time together, so lucky to have a little person in your life.

He's the cutest thing I've ever seen. I think this will be the 8th flight I've booked to see him since he was born. I decided that I'd rather fly them out here this time than drag myself to California.

Babies are surprisingly resilient. I'm more worried about him breaking my stuff than breaking his stuff.

Just been into a vegetarian market shop that is round the corner from my house. It's been open a month apparently. I've walked past it everyday and only noticed it existed on Sunday.

The women in there did not speak good English, which worked in my favour as instead of trying to describe what each thing was, she just offered me free samples of everything.

It wasn't vegetarian-meat substituted stuff either. It was just all food that happened to be veggie friendly. Kinda liked a Green Grocer I suppose. But this was Indian sweets and samosas. Yum.

My daughter's flight has been delayed by at least 75 minutes. That means I have another 75 minutes to clean the house and that is not how I planned things. Next month I'm hiring a housekeeper.

How messy was your house? You've been at it for about four hours, well it's been since your first post mentioning it earlier.

Oh and child-proofing a house always makes me think of this-

:D Where abouts in Portugal are you from? We usually go to Algarve, but have enjoyed your Capitol Lisbon, would love to travel in Porto, thinking of planning this for autumn oh yes. <3

I'm from Lisbon and love it, but for a stress-free holiday I'd recommend the south, as you've mentioned. Well, in the summer anyway.

Porto is beautiful but I haven't been in years, unsure I could recommend anywhere.

:)

I'm in Guildford.

Gone to visit RHS Wisley.

My house is probably 2 or 3 times the size of what you're used to, so it's a bit of a chore. The upstairs has pretty much remained untouched since my son moved out a year ago. Nobody ever goes up there, so it was like a time capsule of my son's filth. I've spent much of the time putting together car seats and high chairs and other such nonsense, along with washing and drying 5 beds' worth of bedcovers.

I hurt my back pretty good wrestling with the car seat, so I should be just about immobilized after the 160-mile drive to Austin and back. So much for carrying around my grandson all week. :(

Rolling eyes Dabutt you are very lucky, I would LOVE grandkids, no chance so far it makes me mad people moaning about thier grandkids so there!

(hope you're hiring a male cleaner)

But doesn't that just mean your furniture is just further apart? :P

Furniture? I bed down in a pile of wood shavings and shredded newspaper like a rabbit.

Very good, but crap rain!

I'm going again tomorrow!

Woot!

Reading a final draft of a children's book that my sister's friend has written. He wanted my frank and honest opinion on it and I'd love to say that it's great, but it just isn't! I don't think I can bring myself to tell a complete stranger that his book stinks and needs re-writing! It's every tired cliche from children's literature rolled into one with grammatical errors to boot. Hopefully he's robust enough to make use of my criticisms and improve rather than packing away his pen forever...
