British Comedy Guide

Opinions required!

Hi there,

Me and my brother last weekend knocked together a comedy sketch show. We put a lot of effort into the making of this and would really love to hear your feedback on it.

I would love to hear your opinions on this whether they are good or bad. It will help us greatly when making our next one.

Thanks in advance of your help.

Steve.

Moved to Showcase.

I'm nobody special when it comes to this but the film making was excellent, some of the editing, camera shots, graphics was really good. The actual material, I'm afraid, I didn't find remotely funny. A lot of it felt like private jokes or based on one premise (that was assumed to be funny) with the scene then going on for ages. Their didn't seem to be much craft to the writing at all.

Watched it. Nicely filmed but I found it completely unfunny.

Sorry but you've got no funny lines, set ups etc and your characters simply aren't funny enough to manage without them.

I pretty much agree: excellent shooting and editing, some good performances, but the jokes felt thin and far between to me. It was everything I wanted, except funny.

But what do I know? :D

Hey there,

Thanks for all the responses, it is very much appreciated.

Sorry none of you have found any of it very funny but that's the way it goes I suppose. Most of it was made up as we went with just a basic outline of what was to be done - this seems to have shone through with the final product.

It was a lot of fun making the video. Me and my brother get some laugh when we are putting it all together which doesn't help you guys but makes me feel better!

There was mention of a private joke - The bit at the end of the Dave Barr interview has a pile of takes of my brother trying to do a liverpudlian accent. All he had to do was say "Alright Dave". It was hopeless - the more he ballsed it up the more I laughed......

If you watch that bit again perhaps knowing his accent was meant to be from liverpool, might raise a smile hopefully! Thinking my video never even raised a smile makes me sad, hopefully this will!

Anyway,

Thanks to you all again for having a look, I genuinely appreciate the fact you have taken the time to watch it and say something about it. Thank you.

Going to cheer myself up by renaming my iPod Titanic - when it says Titanic Synching I'm going to hit cancel and feel like a hero!

Cool, don't give up. You've got some real positives going from this. Just need to work on your material.

Opening titles were fine: Realised it would be, visually at least, a polished piece of work.

Tennis Scene: It's the Fast Show's Competitive Dad playing squash again, but not terrible. Could have been shorter, and not lost much.

Moaning Scene: I really liked this. Understated, and very nicely acted (love the delivery of the bridge line).

Rock Star Q&A: Could have worked, but the answers started to becomes very "meh" quite quickly.

DIY Thing: Stopped watching before the end.
