I just bought 2 of these thermostats for my house. I've been in the market for programmable thermostats for a few months but nothing wowed me. These are in a league of their own: how can I say no to overpriced shiny things from the guy who invented the iPod?

Very fancy, but you really need one in every room and corresponding controlled valving on your radiators, so that each room has individual control.

Radiators? How quaint and old-fashioned.
I have 2 central air conditioning units (one for each floor of the house) and a single gas-fired furnace in the attic. The 3 bedrooms upstairs are uninhabited, but I've found that if I don't keep the A/C running upstairs the downstairs unit runs almost constantly. (Months of triple-digit temperatures are to blame.) Hopefully this will help things run more efficiently.
My old condo in California had radiant heat under the floors and each room had its own thermostat. It was nice having warm floors underfoot during the winter and my skin appreciated the lack of dryness caused by hot air blown from a furnace.

Thanks y'all.
So far I have um...bought a milkshake? And been called into work at short notice a lot?
Quote: TopBanana @ June 1 2012, 1:33 PM BSTWell done!
Excellent.
Do all unis use those grades for assignments? I get numbers on a scale of 1-20 :/
I get grades like A, B+, B etc. which translate into like 1st or 2:1 or whatever. The A/B etc. is just a way for them to tell us our grades without giving us exact scores until they want to, a bit later on.

When the weather is cold, how does the heat from your attic furnace get to the living rooms.
I think having a furnace sounds quaint!
And a bit pre war.
AJGO unintentionally did a mini BCG drinking establishments crawl this evening, and ended up in the Southampton and had an extremely lovely pint called Curious.
AJGO wore someone's flatcap in a tribute to the lovely ale that was served in a proper glass, and had a photo taken, but unfortunately her top was more low-cut than she had realised.
This was only a minor indiscretion but as it was a psychotherapist taking the picture, AJGO feels like she should think about what this might have signified other than AJGO not spending more than two minutes getting dressed.
AJGO did not mention to the psychotherapist that she refers to herself in the third person in Status Report...

It's a highly efficient unit that blows hot air through the same vents that the air conditioning blows through. Same fan, I'd suppose, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I can request warm or cold air and it blasts out of the ceiling in seconds.

It's not an old school furnace like in the movies. It's a rather small metal box in the attic that lights a pilot light, turns on the gas and then blasts hot air in my general direction. I love him/her/it in our rather mild winters.

Just be thankful your Freudian slip wasn't on show AJGO.
Mind you a flat cap is a seriously sexy look!
Check out the pout on that! Ha!
