So what's the best way to upload a file? I have a 788mb MOV file which apparently takes 40 hours to upload to FB or YouTube...
Too old to begin stand-up career? Page 2
How long is the clip? That's rather big. Bigger than a 90min film in most cases. I suggest re-encoding it to something smaller.
If it's <9mins I'd suggest it should less that 80Mb
It's 11 minutes 30 seconds. filmed on an Everio - which I've never really known how to set.
Just discovered Windows Movie maker, which cut the size....and removed the pictures.
Around 100mb would be enough by far I'd imagine.

2 minutes worth (13mb) link in Critique if you would like to comment.

All comedians start off at open spots; places that allow anybody.
You're NEVER too old. Though being dead doesn't help, even then you're not too old just unable to perform - something that afflicts a lot of comedians. I started when I was fifty-five, I went to an open-mic spot called Beat The Frog in Manchester. My advice for what it is worth is this. The audience is genius they're like a dog they can sense things - never underestimate the power they hold.
Don't try too hard, just relax and be yourself. Make sure you know your material, make sure you know your audience. Swearing for swearing's sake is not funny. "Oh god, I do that" is funny as is observation but best of all is working the audience. Be unique, have an original voice but most of all? Be funny. I do stories rather than jokes, monologues, quips sometimes linked sometimes not. I do them about what I know - failing health, second time around relationships, not understanding technology etc. Make it different, make it interesting and I think you'll have a fighting chance. Good luck.
PS: My carer says I'm crap and should stick to complaining about trying to get a doctors appointment, how expensive prescriptions are and explaining why I don't need internet access on my phone because it's a phone.
