Sitcom Writer

I found this on mandy.com http://www.mandy.com/1/jobs3.cfm?v=49355016&skill=scr&terr=uki

What do you guys think about this opportunity? Does it sound legit to you?

the ad says

"We are seeking a writer to develope the sitcom with our script editor."

Develope?

:)

anyway it looks quite an established idea and set of charcters so you would probably just be adding gags etc.

What is it with Mandy, and aol addresses, and companies that don't appear to be anything to do with writing or television, and really camp ideas?

This may be legit, I'm not casting aspersions, but it reminded me of one of my favourite ever threads, where Jack Daniels got mad, Badge wrote a lengthy discourse, Evan Rubivellian said 'horses' amusingly, and I proposed an industry smackdown.

Writing 5-10 pages of comedy for free to some random guy on the internet, no mention of the name of the major production company, and his own "company" is using an AOL e-mail address? Yeah, this is SO legit. Unimpressed

Yeah, sorry again about that. In my defence, I did try to delete it when I realised how upset everyone was. Angelic

Part of me feels like giving this a go because of the 10%(?) chance that it could be legit. However, I think I'll probably give it a miss.

Don't go near it.
They're a business, and as such they should pay the going rate.
This is obviously an attemp to sucker people in to doing it for sod all.
Plus the premis couldn't be duller.

I'd given up on said thread by the time this happened, so thanks for making me wade through 10 pages to find it. Strangely enough it was actually worth it! :D

I'm such an arse sometimes.

"Horses" was good though. :)
