I recommend them both too. I have the big boxes too but I wouldn't swap them.

Ah but...

Would you swap your two big-box DVD sets for one box of square deal surf?

I haven't got a board.

No need to get shirty ;)

I watched orinigals after I saw the more recent ones and thought in comparison the latest ones were just sentimental money spinners. Also they turned Timothy Spalls characters into too much of an idiot.

Obviously it ain't really a proper sitcom per se, but 1st series was great and very funny too at times. The 2nd not as much so but still good, it wasn't the same show afterwards. The comeback ones were a total total waste of time, as most are.

I'll agree with some of the others - if I absolutely had to pick an all time favourite programme ever, series one would definitely be in the running.

It was interesting to see how they coped with 'Wayne's' death in series two, because he died before they had finished making and broadcasting them, they had to get a standin to do outdoor shots, and shuffle a few things round at the end, it was nice that thelast eposide of S.2 also gave a tribute to him. The reunion was great and unlike some people have posted of course they should have done them, if not people would be saying wouldn't it be great if they did some new ones. And what about the great songs That's Living Alright, Breakin Away, Seven Again, Back With The Boys, Get It Right and the more recent Why Aye Man :)

Such a shame because you just know there would've been a Heavy Metal Kids reunion about now.

I have all the series apart from the last two, Magowan should have featurd more in series 1 I think, like the episode he is featured in, The Alien, the sceme where Magowan attacks Neville. Don't think took much acting ability from Timothy Spall to look scared.

I got series 3 (I think it's series 3) about the Bridge for Christmas. Just got around to starting to watch it. Such a comfortable feeling.

I have recently watched the opening scenes of Series 2 Episode 1 and I always wonder whether the scene where Barry asks the German worker to take a photograph of the seven was a deleted scene from the end of Series 1.

I can't imagine that they would have shot the scene especially for Series 2, unless they used another location as the building site had become Albert Square when they started filming Series 2.

Was Gary Holton in that scene because he died while they were making the second series. If not then probably it was reshot.

By the way does anyone else like the Heavy Metal Kids?

Gary Holton was in the scene. If this was shot for Series 2 it would have been early on. Gary Holton died a short time before Series 2 was completed and he is only absent from the bar scenes in Spain, apart from a scene in a casino where Bomber lifts Wayne from his seat after he is trying to chat up Vicki, and it is a stand in - the only time Wayne's stand in was used.

I am looking for a copy of the abridged Series 1 & 2 to make my collection complete.

I always remeber that in S2 one episode was dubbed with "That's Livin'" at the end.

If anyone can help, give us a holler!

I recently re-watched the first 3 series when they were shown on Yesterday and I can only echo previous comments. Series 1 is about as good as anything ITV has ever made, and Series 2 although not as good is still well worth seeing. As for the BBC revival, it just seemed a waste of time. It just didn't work for me and as has already been said they changed the Barry character from being intelligent if somewhat naive/un-worldly to a full blown idiot and it simply didn't ring true.
