Genius from Badge but really the similarity is the U - the difference is K and S.
What's The Difference Between UK and US Humor? Page 2
Not with the word I was talking about!
It's narrowed quite a lot in recent years but I think there are still little differences you can find. Some old style US sitcoms still exist like Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a half Men and the Belushi one, and they ARE very different to ours in general, but maybe our team written famcoms (which I hate) are looking more like those lot now.
NGO looks quite American in style to me as well. And the worst trend here has to be the sub Curb style sitcom of which Lead Balloon was our biggest offender. Conversely, The Big Bang Theory at times looks like a classic British character com, but with typically American wordiness. So each country's humour has been infuenced by the other, it looks.
I don't think he'll understand. (I only just realised - well I am getting old.)
But really I think UK works better in short bursts - ie 30 minutes - whereas US are better at comedy films.
For years, I thought I just didn't like comedy. Turns out I just prefer my humour more dry. Though I've got to admit, there is much more of that type being produced in America than there used to be.
But yeah, I'd say the main difference is that most comedies from the US will signal a joke.
