AheM! Azzzzzzzzzzzza. Can you tell David off to please. Tell him it is far to crude, even by his standards. Sooooooo wude. All I said was a little weeny mum in law jokey, next thing I know I am being gagged well & truly.
I have a bad taste in my mouth now.
*shakes head*
Come now.
only met my mrs' mother once, she looked like a turnip
Quote: Aaron @ January 22, 2008, 9:43 PMOOokaaaaaaaaay, that's going a bit far even by your standards now Charley. Calm it down a level or two, please.
Hi - just wondering about this as a newbie. Surely comedy doesn't really have any barriers - what's offensive to one person is entirely acceptable to another.
If something offends you is it maybe best not to just ignore, or is that not forum policy? I only ask because if people are worried about whether an idea might potentially be offensive then they probably won't post it, which would be a shame. Self-censorship is the death of many good ideas.
Hi Barbs - on this forum you can pretty much say what you like. We like to run a happy ship though - so no name calling!
If you want to check our forum rules see below

Well, firstly, it wasn't anything to do with comedy. And there's a difference between discussing risqué and taboo ideas, and going into lurid details about sex with another user's dead mother!
It is VERY hard to offend me, and extremely rare that any kind of censorship (which I abhor) is employed on the board. I've made it quite clear in the past that I wouldn't have been to surprised if the police found Madeleine McCann underneath her parents' patio. I've also made it clear that I believe that "everyone's a little bit racist", and that paedophilia is a fetish, not some kind of psychotic disorder. Charley regularly talks about her magnificent vagina, and I even let Adam (ajp29) promote his socialist beliefs. There's really little-to-no censorship at all at the BSG.
So I think all (certainly long-time) members are aware that they can discuss pretty much anything and everything without fear of reprimand, and if something does go a bit far, then they know that they'll just get a friendly little poke (oo er), as above, rather than having their posts edited, deleted, or their user accounts banned. It is very rare though. Very rare indeed.

Dead Mother IN-LAW. In LAW Azza. Not Mother! Ewwwwwwwwwwww. Sex with your mother in law is a very different act to sex with your Mother.
Fankoo.
Thanks - well that's cleared that up. I actually misread Charley's post anyway - I hadn't realised she had tweaked the previous post so was commenting as if it was just a random quip which had suddenly drawn censure. I can totally see where you're coming from and don't worry, I'm a pretty inoffensive guy.
I would disprove that with my Maddie joke, but I'm now far too busy hunting for references to the 'magnificent vagina'.
EDIT: Sorry if I've kicked this off again. (Makes tactical withdrawal)

Thus proving my point.

What does Madeleine McCann have in common with a submarine?
They're both at least six foot under, and full of seamen.

The British Sitcom Guide accepts no responsibility for the mental, libido, emotional, physical, or any other form of scarring or disorder incurred from reading ANYTHING written by Charley. (Just for the lawyers' sake. )
Exactly.
Anyhoo I quite fancy my Father in law. My mother in Law is gorgeous too.
Anyway I shall never mention the word shaft & lube & Dave's deceased mother in law again. Well not after that last time, you know, just then.
DDMI.

I was a socialist then I met Aaron, now i'm a nihilist.

Does that mean that you think I should be able to discuss lurid sex acts with a mother in law?
I was only going to leave it there till Dave saw it anyway. I wanted to make Dave feel really sick. I am a nice person that way....However he got his own back by making me sick.
What? About having his weeny in your mouth?

Cue Charley stating that it's too short to trigger the gag reflex.
