I'm going to assume that the bulk of folks on this forum will be from England, but also that many of you will have also seen American sitcoms to some degree. As a Yank, I have my theories as to the differences between our senses of humour and what attracts a lot of Americans to what we call Britcoms. But I'd be interested in hearing what people in the UK see as the differences and what American comedies are popular over there?
Intelligence! sorry, that is British 'sarcasm' something Yanks find difficult ,only my observation.
There are American gems 'Frazier' 'Cheers' 'Taxi' and 'Hill street Blues'. 
American comedies feature fewer swanee whistles, IMHO.
Not as much as peeps like to think IMHO!
