It's getting bad figures even if it was on BBC3. For BBC2 those figures are pretty shocking. It may be getting good reviews, but plainly, not many people like it/like the idea of it/like the main character/star. It looks like ending up a fairly rare critical success-ratings flop.
I know there'll be fans bemoaning its demise, but come on, something is wrong with it if it can't get more than 700,000 viewers on BBC2! Perhaps BBC2's core viewers aren't right for it. Then should it not have been aired on BBC3, where it might well have got more viewers, or at least enough to be seen as good for BBC3?
My own feelings, I think many people are tiring of the post watershed sitcom and the figures for all of them appear to be sliding down. Why not cut out the smut, tone down the language and put on at a more popular time? Preferably cast all actors who can act, not just accommodate comedians who want their own show but can't act or write good narratives; make the lead characters a bit stronger and stop trying to copy over rated US sitcom models like Seinfield or CYE, make them proudly British again. Please.
