Laughing out loud

I too am beyond intrigued by this one.

Personally, I'm dreading my night bus experience tonight as I have to go to a flat warming in Balham. Last time I got a night bus in South London, the only overheard conversations were in Nigerian, Polish and Columbian.

The only high point of listening to excitable foreigns drunknely banter, is listening out for the odd English language phrase: 'Balala wokumbu showtumbee Hairy Bikers Mum's Know Best willa wayaa marteba Lemon Drizzle Cake'

:D I like all the foreign conversations, it's curious trying to work out what they're saying. A Lithuanian bouncer was trying to teach me words last night but I've forgotten them all now

When I was on a train recently I overheard a woman on the phone telling her friend how the night before she had drunk so much at this trendy club that she almost didn't make it to the bathroom before chucking her guts up. Then I got to hear about how some people she knew tried to set her up with this guy who turned out to be her ex boyfriend.

Some conversations just don't need to be had in public.

There's some truth there sister. I can no longer sit downstairs on a bus in case two old ladies get on and start discussing their medical problems in almost pornographic detail.

And even though it's like nails on a chalkboard overhearing two chav kids talking in that 'street' way, you do occassionally pick up gems like: 'I got a stain on my track suit, but Mum got if off with some Fairy Up Liquid'

EVERY time I sit in a cafe I get sat next to by old ladies and they talk loudly about their ailments.

It's actually hilarious now.

Tough choice but think I'd prefer that to some 19 year old talking about how much sex they had recently or who with.

A few months ago I was sitting in a Cafe where the tables were all close together. Sitting there trying to enjoy my coffee and read the paper but all I can hear is the 19 year old on the next table telling her friend how she got drunk nearly every night on the Contiki tour and how great the sex was.

Oh yes, definitely.

I once sat infront of a couple of yoots having a loud conversation.

Quite delighted it was about the management training program at McDonalds and why cash reward bank accounts were a con compared to interest only ones.

I did a skit comp sketch a while ago about an overheard conversation on a bus, didn't get any votes though :( but I liked it :)
Can't even find it now!

Some of them are fine. I was on a packed bus once when an frail elderly woman got on. The front seats were mostly filled with 30 and 40 somethings in suits who just stared at the poor woman. Two rough looking emo teens then noticed the woman and not only offered her their seat but assisted her to sit. The elderly woman looked so shocked I thought she would have a heart attack.

It does warm the cockles when a surly looking teenager is nice and polite.
And it happens way more than you think it will. We are uber judgemental.

I do have a major annoyance on people taking up front seats and not giving them up.

So, another friend wants to take me to a party (I'm told it's an actual party not a political thing) of socialist party people. She thinks I'll like some of the men. I'm not entirely sure where she got this idea from. Has anyone had experience with self-confessed socialist people? Do they have to consult Pravda between each move?

*Checks Pravda*

Not sure.

:D What's the word on the socialist street Badge?

It doesn't say.
