Thanks Widdih!
Always good to hear from people in the know. ANOTHER Welsh person no less!

For those that can't get down there, can a few of the people that have had stuff accepted before post them here? I think that would be helpful.
Or PM as I'd like to have a go.
I've just realised I submitted to the Treason Show, not Newsrevue.
It looks like just a French news channel.

I just realised I sent some sketches only to Newsrevue. Why do I always forget? >_<
Quote: Widdih @ January 22, 2008, 3:38 PMAs someone who wrote for NR for quite a while and script edited a run, I can tell you that everything that is sent in is read and if it's good enough it will usually make it on.
Although it has bordered on clicky (as groups generally do) and sometimes the cast do crowbar in far too much of their own material, it's very much as Widdih says. The fact is that the standard is high and unless you've seen the show then there's absolutely no way to appreciate what goes on. The hardest thing to accept is rejection, but so far as getting comedy performed, News Revues still offers up the best way to get something performed.
You'll never get rich from News Revue but what you will achieve is the chance to start learning how to write within a structure and that, as they say, (or at least I do) is priceless.
So what if material gets rejected, shit happens, don't take it so personally and above all keep writing.
Any examples then?
Quote: ContainsNuts @ January 22, 2008, 5:22 PMAny examples then?
Examples of what?
Of scripts that have been accepted. You should always know what the show uses and as not everyone can make it to the show it would be good to see what has been used. I'm being PM'd one so thanks.
Treason Show - the edit sheets they send out - I assume the stuff on the edit sheet is ideas they would like the writers to work on, as guidelines, rather than brief coverage of stuff they've already got...? Must be, surely, but would like some insight into using them.
Do people generally have a stab at just a few of these suggested topics if that's what they are?
Cheers Griff!

I got my Tattoo sketch performed 4 weeks running apparently. The pinnacle of my achievements.
It's buried in the critique section somewhere.
Just got this weeks run.
Nothing again! Bugger!!!
Quote: Griff @ January 22, 2008, 7:14 PMYes the edit sheets are lists of topics that Mark Brailsford wants to cover in the show, which he doesn't have material on yet.
My experience has been that having a go at topics in the edit sheet increases the chance of getting sketches accepted. But if you've got a great topical idea for a sketch which isn't in his sheet, and nothing in the edit sheet inspires you, then go with your great idea.
How do you get the edit sheet?
