You'll get a copy of the running order.
This must be the same for everyone but just in case, this just came into my inbox:
*********************************************************************
Dear all,
The writers’ pay for the Christmas run of NewsRevue which finished last Sunday has now been calculated and cheques are being sent out today. We are still missing a lot of postal addresses, particularly for some of you who have more recently joined the writing team. If you submitted material which was used during the Christmas show but have not received a cheque by this time next week, please email with your address so that we can get that, plus maybe other recent writers cheques, sent out to you as soon as possible.
The running order for last week's show was only emailed on Monday. I think it's a bit hit and miss about who gets sent running orders. I was sending stuff in for some months before I seemed to get on the email list, so you may want to chase them up if you don't get it. However, once you get on the list you get sent it regularly whether you're in the show or not.
Wish I was on the mailing list...
Can't someone post it up regularly?
No, maybe not. I suppose that would be a bit unethical, somehow...
When you confirm your interest in writing for them and they add you to the writers database, will you be automatically added to the mailing list?
It comes as a spreadsheet and I got last weeks late too. They'd had problems apparently.
Do you still get a running order even if you didn't submit a sketch?

Yes, if youre on the mailing list.
Thanks for that Griff mate, i only entered my 1st sketch into newsrevue on the 17th so i may get a running order on Monday coming up.
I submitted a sketch once... or was it a song?
Anyway, I never got on the mailing list, so it must only be people whose material is used.
Or they just hate me.
They just hate you

Something about surreal whimsey (thats my new favorite saying btw)
As someone who wrote for NR for quite a while and script edited a run, I can tell you that everything that is sent in is read and if it's good enough it will usually make it on. Because the show is weekly and topical the turn-around is frantic and there simply isn't anyone there to sit and type emails to people that submit stuff.
A lot of people say that NR is clicky, but it is usually the one's that struggle to get sketches/songs in that say this. Time for a bit of self-reflection here folks. If you've been sending stuff consistently for a period of time and it’s not getting in then it's safe to presume that it is not of the required standard. I'm not saying give up, just get up to London to see the show a couple of times and learn what type of material is getting on, and try and shape your material to suit. NR were always desperate for quality material and were always the first to admit that not everything in the show was the standard that they would hope for. So what I’m saying is, if it’s good enough it will be used. If its not used, try and be objective about why this might be and learn some lessons for the next time you submit.
I have first hand experience of the quality of material that NR receives on a weekly basis and a lot of it is way below par. Comedy is subjective, and one of the good things about NR is the 6-weekly change of cast/crew and so if you're not in favour one run, but you feel you're stuff is quality, then keep plugging away as it will be a fresh face in a few weeks time (hence, why I argue that it is not clicky, or at least not during my time).
The best thing I can say is to use it as a learning mechanism. By doing this it will tighten up your material no end (especially if you can get down to see it performed once in a while).
Hope this helps.
