Worst & Best type of comedy. Page 2

I was not talking to you, big chops. :)

(big chops?...)

It is most definitely allowed for you not to like the Boosh. Or the Goons - I don't like them either.

Surrel Whimsey sounds like it should be a coastal town in Cornwall

:D

Sorry Zooo couldn't resist!

Also my thoughts on the thread topic are coming up after the break.

Welcome back.

I hate whimsy, I hate mindless smut. Oh, I can't think of any other type I don't like. I must have a broader comedy pallet than I thought.

Best - tough one, not sure, Alan Partridge probably. Standup? Lee Evans. And I'm getting into Old stuff like chaplin and the Marx bros at the mo.

Worst - Angelos was poo. Standup - Ben Elton.

Dont really hate any genre, as long as its done well. Surreal-I like the Boosh, or Python for instance; Slapstick-Some Mothers Do Have Em I like and thats slapstick-y, Clever/Sophisticated-I like shows such as Frasier, or The Thick Of It. I can take any genre really as long as its done well.

I never mentioned the B word.

Although I have seen the Boosh live, and walked out cos I couldn't stand it. They ain't for me. That's allowed, innit ? I just don't like the surreal style of comedy. (For what it's worth, I don't much like The Goons either.)

What about Python, or Vic and Bob; or is it all surreal stuff? I love a bit of the surreal, me. And I dont believe for a minute its as easy as its detractors think. Doing it badly, yes, thats easy; doing it well? As difficult as any other form of comedy.

Best: makes me laugh
Worst: makes me wonder how anyone could laugh

I think disliking Russell Brand puts you in the majority.

I don't like Spaced

You're my new friend. :)

Best: Stuff that is completely true (Satire for example) and stuff that is complete fantasy (Like surrealism).

Worst: Blue comedians like Bernard Manning and Roy "Chubby" Brown. Also, poor post-ironic humour.

Best: Witty, clever, character lead, silly.

Worst: Hidden Camera. Julian Clarey.

Julian Clarey.

God knows why, but I can't help but like him. Something strangely soothing about his oh-so-stereotypical voice. Made even that awful lottery show he presented, watchable.

Lol, even though it makes me a huge hypocrite, I just can't stand his lazy sexual innuendo's, it's like nails down a blackboard to me.

Julian Clary did a fab radio show.

(With no swear words). Angelic

Worst: Hidden Camera.

Having earlier said I like all genres if theyre done well, i have to say that actually this is one I do dislike. Beadles About when I was about six, fair enough; but nowadays I just cant stand it.

I just can not get falling down/hurting themselves jokes. I know peeps laugh their arses off at it, but I just think its sooooooo old hat & stoopid. However someone I know very very well, did walk into a lampost whilst ogling a 1/2 naked man. I never found it funny as my head hurt bad. My mates did though. So I guess it is still a very popular form of comedy!!!
