Old teenage diary found from 1983! Page 2

Oh you heartbraker, you!

I've never kept a diary. I've never lived anywhere where I felt it was safe to keep one!

I have a few from when I was around 15/16.
They are hilarious. And hugely embarrassing.

We've been talking about teenage diaries today so I thought I'd reboot this old thread of mine - any newbies since 2009 who have any choice 'Dear Diary' entries to share?

i know people are saying it's a shame about Adrian Mole doing it already, but I can't help thinking if you presented this more as a 80's nostalgia piece - interspersed with lots of Photos etc it could be quite a sellable book.

Do it!

I never had a diary when I was a teenager, partly because I was worried about writing anything really personal in it, in case anyone read it. I remember once, when I was 14/15, my Dad found a porn mag that I'd been looking at. He came into the room with a big smile on his face, holding it, in an attempt to embarrass me, so I decided to fight fire with fire and said, "Oh yeah, I had a good wank over that earlier on. You can borrow it if you like".

Not very English of either of you.

My Dad and I were always trying to wind each other up when I was a teenager. it came from the fact that he worked away from home a lot, from when I was 7, to when I was 12. In that time, I got used to being the only male in the house, so when he he came home for good, there was a bit of tension between us. It was intensified by the fact that I was already the same height as he was, by the time I was 13. It was all good fun really though.

I have written two diaries in my lifetime.

My first was when I was 13-15. It is set in a precise way stating each time who my best friend is, who I fancy, who my enemies are, who my best friend fancies... all which change every entry. It also deals with the death of my aunty and how badly I was bullied at school. It's heart breaking to read back and I wish I could tell my 13 year old me to be stronger and stick up for myself.

My second was when I went travelling at 21. I tried to keep it factual, but inevitably my feelings got in my way and I wrote about crushes I got along the way.

I'll try and find my diary from when I was young to show you an entry.

I used to write a little list in the front of each diary a bit like that. Listing favourite films, books, who I fancied, my height, my best friend etc, and my address (obviously done in the classic 'England, UK, the world, the universe' manner)

I used to do it in different sparkly gel pens and underline in red or green... hehe.

My diary from when I was about 14 is written in an insane mixture of Latin and French because I was paranoid about my mother finding and reading it, but she didn't know any Latin or French. Laughing out loud

That. Is. Brilliant. :)

I think deep down I wanted my mum to find my diary... but she couldn't be bothered to look for it.

I only really kept a personal diary when I was about 15. A few laments about girls I fancied aside it was incredibly dull stuff.

Came across my old diary the other day - I say diary - it was just a collection of naked women pictures I cut out of nudey magazines and pasted into a book bound by blood and human hair. Like a lot of boys my age, I burned out their eyes with a cigarette because I didn't want them 'looking at me'.

Ah, to be 28 again.
