Have returned from Melbourne trip. Had a good time but didn't get to anything at the comedy festival. Four days holiday wasn't enough, really don't want to go to work tomorrow.
I thought the frozen fruit I just added to my cereal bowl would quickly thaw but instead I now have a bowl of purple slush.
After a truly crap week or so when Spouse was threatening with redundancy but escaped with severely reduced hours, Riley has discovered that a vacancy to become Sir Humphrey has Riley's name on it.
Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. Riley will be running the country from a small office in Whitehall in about six weeks time. 
I'm sure what the country needs is definitely a BCG member running it.

Whitehall functions best when run by people who do not really want to be there. I would far sooner have a frustrated comedy writer taking charge than a PPE graduate.
