The Ronnie Barker magazine

Has anyone bought the first edition of the new Ronnie Barker magazine. You get a detailed magazine and a DVD of the first four episodes of Porridge. If you collect the whole series (24 issues) you get the complete series of:
Porridge
Open all Hours
Going Straight
Seven of One
The Magnificent Evans
Clarence

The first edition is £2.99, which is good, but the rest will be £7.99, which is well overpriced. I've bought the first issue, but I'm buying no more.

Yeah, someone (Chapman?) mentioned it elsewhere. The price is ridiculous though, and I'd guess that most of the magazine is harvested from Wikipedia and the like. Just not worth it. :(

I'd recommend you buy the first issue though as it is worth £3, but definetly not worth £8.

Really? I mean, I have it all already, so is the magazine that worth it? Or are there any good extras? I noticed the TV adverts mentioned "bonus" Two Ronnies sketched, but anything else?

Those things are such a rip off. It's just cheaper to buy a box set and a biography!

I started buying the Prisoner like that then decided to buy the box set instead.

I watch the Two Ronnies last night and wrote down the dialogue of the
sketch with the Lord and Lady, and Ronnie Barker as the surley butler,
I was surprised how 'flat' it looked on paper, but how funny visually.

Hi people - first post. :)

I have this and there is a quite a nice extra on the DVD actually. There's a feature from Blue Peter where John Noakes goes on the Porridge set and it shows rehearsals, how the set is built and interviews with RonnieB, Richard Beckinsale, Fulton MacKay and the producer(?).

It's about 10 minutes I'd guess and is a worthwhile insider view how sitcoms work even if 30 years old.

Oo, now that certainly makes it a more tempting buy.

Agreed i saw the boxset of all of those and it wasn't that much. If anything they should have done it when he was alive so at least he could contribute to it!
