British Comedy Guide

Worst & Best type of comedy.

My worst is the falling down type. Oooooh look he fell. I dont find that funny. It is only funny when a mate does it when she is pissed & breaks her face open. Then it is hillarious.

My best.
Sarcasm, shock & putting your foot in it. I also love true life stuff.

Best-Political/satirical stuff which is clever

Worst-Stupid humour like point at that minority cos they're different. Don't worry we're being post-racist/xenophobic/sexist.

Worst: Stuff like You've Been Framed and Mr Bean

Best: Stand-up observational

I love surreal humour, not keen on balls of steel!

I don't think I really have a blueprint for what I like and don't like.

I guess I like subtle, observational humour, that makes me think "Ohhhh I've been in that situation haha!", or "I know someone like that!" :D

I do like silly stuff though. This clip will illustrate the kind of thing that has me laughing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUJumjF3BTY

I generally don't like the traditional sitcom format, with people talking to each other in jokes. Whistling nnocently

Worst: Mr Bean

*shakes head in disgust*

I like magical things, or things that show me something that I have never thought of before, and never could.

I like magical things

What a curious flight of whimsy.

Would you care to buy a most magical bean?

Oh no, dear. Not cliched magical things.
Criminy.
*turns nose up*

Yeah, I'm the same. I prefer something I can relate to a bit more nowadays. Older sitcoms that I liked used have such jokes but they were spread out a bit more unlike now when you just get a barrage of it. But I perfectly understand why people like that. Angelic

I love slapstick if its done properly ie you don't really see it coming. Laurel & Hardy, Chaplin were the best at that.

Worst

Equestrian Millinery based

Best

Mine :)

If anything tries to be surreal or whacky it is awful.

It has to be genuine. Vic & Bob always hated being described as surreal.

In addition to people being unexpectedly injured I also like clever verbal comedy, everything from Wodehouse and Fry & Laurie to Ronnie Barker, Frasier, and even Les Dawson.

I also love satirical stuff like The Thick Of It.

I HATE "surreal whimsy" unless it is done really well, which is never. If I hear another self-consciously wacky routine about "I walked into the pub and there was this talking sausage, right, called Dave, and Dave was just, like, sitting on a pile of wristwatches and then we both, like, flew off to Spain using the power of Vimto" I might end up doing something very non-surreal with a hammer to whoever is responsible.

I also can't bear cosy pre-watershed unfunny bollocks like... well, you know the show I mean.

cough - The Boosh - cough.

Actually, that'll little bit made me laugh. Because you mentioned Vimto - which is exactly the sort of whimsical thing shit comedians will mention.

I don't know if it's a type but I suppose it is of an era. Carry On stuff and Benny Hill type rubbish.

Best- Kenny Everett. [Spiderman wanting a pee gag-brilliant.] Python's, Blackadder-doesn't conform to type, just my taste.

We've been through this already.
Stop Boosh baiting!

The argument goes:

someone claims 'anyone can say random rubbish'.
then someone says some random rubbish
which isn't funny
and then he says 'there, that's proved my point!'
when in fact it's disproved it quite thoroughly.

the end.
