Is it not all a bit odd that there's no mention there of a murder trial which has just resulted in the life sentence of a black guy for killing two harmless white folk, who dared stray into his 'hood'? I would have thought the timing of this story would have compromised a lot of the more hysterical Jesse Jackson type media mongering. It does put some perspective onto this one highly inflated story, that one they don't want to hear is buried.
To be fair, it was a much bigger story in the UK than it was here. It was a semi-big story when it happened because the victims were from the UK but the trial wasn't featured prominently in the national news. It was a bigger story in Sarasota because the killings took place there. (I grew up nearby and never went close to the area where the tourists were murdered: very scary place.
It was stupid of the president to weigh in on the Martin case because now every time a white person is killed by an African-American (as happened to a university student in his Mississippi dorm room the day after his remarks) he looks like a hypocrite with a racial axe to grind.
The Martin shooting didn't gather steam until weeks after he was killed. In that time a narrative was built (he was only a sweet young kid who wanted some Skittles and was gunned down by a racist white guy because of the colour of his skin) and photos of a young, smiling Martin were provided to the media. The usual racial agitators went on the offensive and we were off to the races. This is an election year, so the liberal media jumped at the chance to fight two of their favourite fights: racism and guns, while helping out by deciding to call Zimmerman a white Hispanic in their coverage.

And this is why no sane city should ever want to host the Olympics:
"Mole man" had refused offers of a home but this week council bosses said he had to leave the common as it will be a base for defence missiles during the Olympics.
They should just hold the Olympics in Greece every 4 years. It's where they began and cities wouldn't have to spend billions on new facilities every time the games come to town. The Greeks could probably use the money, too.
