Submitting Ads

Ok, so I posted a wee sketch in critique, and a few people suggested it would/might make a good John Smiths advert.
I thought about this last night and decided, since it was really just a throw-away sketch I couldn't place anywhere in my work, instead of leaving it to die why not try sending it in? Gotta be worth a go, hasn't it?

Then I realised I haven't got the faintest idea how I would go about this.
Does anyone know who on earth you send ad ideas to, or how you go about it?
In fact, can you actually do this?

Any help from someone with knowledge in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Google for the agency - send yourself a registered post copy and DON'T open it. :D

I googled it: Spectre are the production company. TBWA London are the creative agency. MediaVest are the media agency.

Now does any one know where I can get a clip of the Princess Diana queen of hearts interview? Tried googling and YouTube so far. ;)

'tony blair diana speech' Thats what I googled

Cheers Adam. I googled 'lying false bitch' so explains the trouble I had. Huh?

And you can't libel the dead ... apparently. They have trouble filling in all the forms. Whistling nnocently

SlagA, thank you very much for that, mate.
So is it Spectre I wanna be addressing it to? Sorry to be such an amateur, but, well, I am!

Thanks for the copyright tip as well, but I'll probably be so excited to get a letter I'll do it (doh) :)

Try all three. The production company and the creative agency are the better bets though.

But SlagA how can you say that she was the people's Teary princess Laughing out loud

Anyone notice the other day when the queen went to africa and 'historically' shook the hands of a man with HIV. They didn't mention she was 'historically' wearing gloves Laughing out loud

where is darren goldsmith ? he used to frequent these parts.....he's your man as to advice in this area. my penny's worth - it's a massively competitve area and most agencies will not accept unsolicted ideas. but i'd always say it's worth a go. maybe think of a better way than just sending off a blind e-mail. find the agency. hand deliver. but remember you ain't going to heaven if you sell your soul to advertising.

Thanks again, guys!

But then where isn't it?

:D
Well my justification is that adverts aren't going away any time soon, so why not crusade to at least make them more enjoyable ;)

It's not a competition, and anyway...I would have helped but it's not my bit. :P

Anyone for a bit of "Top Mod Idol"?

Do you remember the 'top bombing' John Smiths advert, Ellie?
Well it was kind of a vague allusion to that. Suppose I should've said 'top modding'!

But you're a top mod too - I don't know which section yours is, but I bet it's probably the best section in the world :) :P

EDIT - :)
