Just joined after wanting to read about and defend (after reading some of the comments) Dirk Gently, which I'm thoroughly enjoying.
I really love 99% of comedy, especially British of course, and in my time have done some comedy writing which has been aired but time/effort didn't allow me to pursue it (rejections are so soul destroying!)
Absolute favourites are anything by Simpson and Galton (my heroes) and Spike Milligan (my absolute hero!!! The man was a genius in my eyes).
NEVER tire of listening to The Goons or Hancock's Half Hour. Absolute favourite of HHH is "Sunday Afternoon at Home", which captures 1950s Britain so perfectly.
Cannot give a No 1 fave of The Goons as I have probably 20 that I listen to over and over again. And there, is another person who I think was shoulders above everyone else - Peter Sellers. The man has no equal as far as I am concerned. "I'm Alright Jack" What can I say? Perfect British comedy starring a man who perfected comedy.
Hope to be posting on a regular basis, so see you soon!
