EXT PARK

Mr Bubb, a man who lives in a large plastic bubble, is rolling through a busy park, he spots an empty space next to a man and quickly rolls over and sits down.
They acknowledge each other with a nod and then look straight ahead.

The man opens a small lunchbox and begins to eat a sandwich.
Mr Bubb opens a small lunchbox and eats his sandwich.
The man then takes out a newspaper from his coat pocket and begins to read.
Mr Bubb takes a newspaper from his coat pocket and he begins to read.
They exchange glances, nod, smile politely and continue reading

The man rolls up his newspaper and takes a cigarette out of his pocket. He strikes a match and the flame flashes.
Mr Bubb looks aghast.
The man takes a long satisfied drag, smoke billowing towards Mr Bubb.

Mr Bubb folds away his newspaper, takes a Nicotine patch from his pocket, rolls up his sleeve and applies it to his arm. The man glances over.
Mr Bubb points sternly to the patch on his arm. A packet of Quick Quit patches lays open.
The man sheepishly stubs out his cigarette.

Mr Bubb takes a stick of gum from his pocket.
The man takes a stick of gum from his pocket.
They nod politely to each other, pop the gum in their mouths and stare straight ahead, chewing in tandem.

So is the joke that Mr Bubb is protected by the smoke in his bubble?

It works nicely even if the punchline is quite slight, almost makes it work better.

The obvious one would be Bubbs lights up a fag and his bubble fills with smoke. But your one is slight enough to tickle the old hippocampus.

nb I'd love to see Bubbs in love with a girl also in a bubble. How would that work out?

Nice to see a visual sketch. Not sure I get the joke though?

Check my comments I believe I spotted the joke

As I am a super genius.

I can imagine a montage of this character, annoying other people with his bubble. Trying to squeeze into tight spaces like finding a seat in the cinema.

'Mr Bubb In Love'...I like it.

It's a sort of quiet joke I suppose, my line of thinking was that Mr Bubb had to give up the cigs due to living in the bubble. He starts off mimicking the man only to end up leading him...something like that.

I have a cinema one half written, half in my head!
