Materials cost me nothing - wool from a friend who died recently and lining from a piece of material I had in my hoard. Took me 5 days of grabbing the odd hour here and there.

I can't wear crochet hats as my face is too angular but I'm always jealous of a hat. Had an urge to buy a hat today but went to charity shop and they didn't have any
