"A US soldier in Afghanistan has shot dead 15 civilians and wounded others after entering their homes in Kandahar province, Afghan and Nato sources say.

He left his military base in the early hours of the morning, attacking at least two homes. Nine children are among the dead."

I don't think soldiers are always in the best state of mind to judge the situation.

I heard Karzi speaking on the subject.

He basically said the massacre (almost certainly the work of one disturbed individual) was an assassination and act of war by the US government.

This idiocy will cost lives on both sides.

And this f**ktard is the guy we are spending lives and billions of dollars keeping in power?

It really is all lost.

Also any liberal commentator who criticises the church and ignores other faiths.

Should be hit in the face with a wet fish.

My thoughts exactly sootyj. I don't mind if people oppose something or have an opinion, as long as it is their opinion. Anyone can read the Guardian or the Daily Mail and spout all sorts of dogmatic rhetoric, but very few people have independent views on a given situation.

Yep, we chose a real piece of work with Karzi. Corrupt and two faced doesn't really sum him up adequately.

Well choosing to surrender part of one's decision making to a greater whole is a decision in and of it's self.

And not always a bad one.

It just maddens me. That liberal talking arses don't care about gay Muslims or Orthodox Jews or actually scientologists. Because minorities picking on minorities within their own community. Is just to much for their pointy pin heads.

I so hope we can pull out of the country extra fast.

Just so we can have a legitimate excuse for giving him a free swimming lesson off an aircraft carrier.

Did I mention he just legalised beating ones wife (providing you realise it isn't a legal requirement and she broke sharia law).

And that stupid hat makes him look like a c**t in a flower pot.

We're fighting a war for a c**t in a flower pot.

Can gay couples beat up their partners as well? If not, why not?! I think it should be fair for all, blah, blah, etc.!!

How do you know what these 'liberal talking arses' think about everything? And who is defined as a 'liberal talking arse'?

As for Karzai, I'm pretty sure he was elected by the Afghan people. That's the trouble with installing democracies, sometimes they elect people you don't like. If only we still had an empire...

By liberal talking arses as a regular Guardian reader.

The first one that springs to mind is salad dodging whiner Johann Harri, Polly "I was a chav for 6 weeks" TOynbee and of course famous lesbian Marxist Melanie Phillips.

As for Karzi you are of course jestering me? Not only did he stuff ballot boxes. But men were able to vote on behalf of all their female relatives. It was probably the most corrupt and rotten election of recent years.

As for Karzai, I'm pretty sure he was elected by the Afghan people.

The West picked him from the start and rigged the election, but instead of being our democratic puppet, he used his power to favour all of his relatives and tribal relations.

The attacks on his life and that of his relatives has more to do with Afghan tribal conflicts then anything else. Afghanistan has been at war almost constantly for 30+ years and democracy is more difficult then just shooting someone.

Personally speaking, if your two main exports are heroin and radical Islam, you're really not doing yourself any favours on an international level. Stupid Afghans.

Last week I predicted that it was only a matter of time before a NATO soldier went off the deep end and started killing Afghans. It was inevitable, really, after so many coalition forces have been killed by their Afghan military "partners."

All is lost in Afghanistan. I was optimistic while General Petraeus was in charge but now that he's gone I've lost all hope. We need to remove our forces ASAP with a stern warning that terrorists bent on attacking the west will remain targets and that our next "visit" might come in the form of mushroom clouds. Then repeat the same to our "allies" in Pakistan.

C'mon, don't forget about good ol' Vlad ...

I doubt you really know what all or even one regular guardian reader thinks about every issue, and suggesting you do is just silly. Some people only care about one issue, other people have different and complex thoughts about different things - the same way you do.

Yeah, no big surprise that elections are fixed. But we didn't put him there, and that's not the purpose of the Afghanistan war. I don't support the war at all, don't get me wrong, but this isn't UK+US implanting a new government.

Don't be so sure about that.

Actually I know several dozen.

But for what it's worth I'm refering to their columnists. And I wish I didn't know what they think. But have you tried shutting up George Monbiot? You'd need an atom bomb.

Quote: DaButt @ March 11 2012, 7:14 PM GMT

Don't be so sure about that.

If it's the government that the US+UK are working to implant then there are astronomical levels of incompetence going on. Seriously unbelievable incompetence

We pushed for the elections years earlier than they were ready for them.

We monitored them.

We agreed to people voting by proxy.

And we funded campaign.

I'm at a loss at how we could have ensured his victory anymore?

Come on, you don't know several dozen people's every opinion. And if you don't like the columnists it's so easy not to read the guardian!

Well yes. It was kinda just avoided in Iraq because the country had a pretty tough prewar infrastructure.

But Afghanistan is just a bunch of warring tribes.

You might as well try and set up a cat ballet.
