Three Drunks in a Chip Shop Page 4

Thank-you Mannikin Bird, I think I will, then I can be really bad.

Tee hee, you are awful but I like you!

Hey Jerf, your'e a total twat and you stink of shit and you look like shit and you're shit.

:P

Seriously though, you can't hear tone of voice in a piece of text. If I'd know you were 'bantering' I would've responded a lot differently. What a difference a tongue makes!
Now let's all make love.

Witty banter is different from being silly, How to get those little smiley faces up? You do understand that the above is an attempt at humour, maybe a failed attempt but nontheless,an honest attempt.

Hhmm, then wit is obviously something far more subjective than I thought.

By the way, a tonguey thing is a colon and a capital P, and a smile is a colon and a parentheses thing ')'

It's no surprise that Jerf's tone was not detected. I had to use 'plaice' twice before anyone noticed.

Does the thread title 'Three Drunks in a Chip Shop' refer to the sketch or to certain posters?

I think SlagA should post a similar sketch with 70s prog rock references then berate the people who don't get them as the people who don't know or can't work out the tunes are obviously stupid :S

Exactly,Thank-you.That's what I was trying to convey, If I was to say "sung to the tune of Choppin's Moonlit Tomato in D flat Major, it wouldn't make sense" would it?
but you know the adage. There are none so blind as those that will not see.

Good Moaning Jerf, not sure if you've accessed the smileys yet?
The easiest way is to click on "Add a reply" rather than "Fast reply" and then you'll see a delightful little selection of emotions to pick from. Happy posting.

Laughing out loud

Good afternoon.

I thought it was OK but giving the song titles spoilt it, I think because if you don't know the songs it won't mean anything anyway.

I think a lot of it boils down to knowing Jerf a bit better. Newbies beware!

Song titles didn't spoil it IMO.
It's the difference between writing something purely for the forum, and writing something for radio/TV etc. and setting it out in such a way so that performers will understand what's going on. We were having a little debate about this in the Writers' area. Personally, I would normally expect scripts to be set out according to standard guidelines for TV/radio etc., which should make everything clear and understandable. This might 'spoil' the joke for the reader by over-explanation in the script, but will ensure everybody understands the piece - and would not spoil what is usually intended to be a performance...? I.e. You might not laugh out loud as a consequence, but can better appreciate it as a performance piece.

I'm falling asleep at the keyboard now and hitting random buttons.

But making more sense
:D

The title, 'Three Drunks in a Chip Shop', is now sung to the tune of 'Three Coins in a Fountain'

Lovely film that.

This is fast becoming "Name that Tune" with a twist. :)
