Less tha you might remember though. They only made 6 episodes and while 3 of them are very funny indeed, the other 3 are pretty patchy. Worth owning the DVD just for Drebbin's lengthy lament about once sharing an apartment with a man.

"They ran him out of town like a common pygmy..."

I would like to check them out after a long gap, I seem to remember an excruciatingly silly sequence in which Drebin tries to establish how many times Mr Once shot Mr Twice or did Twice shoot Once?

That's also very good. Can't beat the pygmy lament though.

some of the shit that has poured out

The Big Bang Theory

You are a whole bucket of wrong.

Thinking about it, at any one time there are never that many I watch. In modern times, Big Bang Theory and the Office, but that one only by DVD because there are just too many extra scenes that make the DVD worth having.

I did try the US version of Worst Week, which fell apart very quickly. In previous decades, then I suppose I was brought up with long running staples like the Munsters, was quite hooked on MASH from fairly early on, and then Cheers likewise. I've recently gone back through the Cheers box sets, but became a little bored with the format: some things don't survive rewatching quite so well. Oh and Friends, and its somewhat trying spinoff Joey.

There are times when I quite like the bite-sized 21 minute format, but other times I think that they really needed something closer to 30 minutes to make something have more depth.

Some other current shows to keep an eye out for:

30 Rock
Modern Family
Community
Venture Brothers
Better Off Ted
Curb Your Enthusiasm

I hear good things about Parks And Recreation too, but haven't got around to it yet.

MASH, Rhoda, Taxi, Soap, Frasier, Seinfeld, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Big Bang Theory, South Park, The Simpsons all immediately spring to mind as ones that I liked a lot. Then there's 3rd Rock From The Sun, Family Guy and American Dad just below them. I used to like Mork and Mindy and ALF but I don't know if they would hold up to rewatching. There's a few aliens in there for some reason, was the US obsessing about UFOs for a while? What utter crap have we been spared that I can see on YouTube?

Curb your Enthusiasm, South Park, Louie, Real Time with Bill Maher, The Green Room with Paul Provenza, old Simpsons, Penn and Teller Bullshit, Futurama, Mr.Show

I like loads of American stuff.

Modern Family
Arrested Development
Curb
Malcolm In The Middle
Two and a half men. (welli like Ashton. Yummmmmmmmmy)
New Girl
The Middle is ok ish
Everybody Loves Raymond
Family Guy
Desperate Housewives can be very funny
Oh the list goes on. They have more good shit than we do!

I would do all the fellas in it. Even the nerdy one. I quite like nerds. They often have very big cocks.

OMG I forgot Weeds. That is hilarious. The character of Doug is fantabulous. I am watching it right now. Anyone else watch it?

Laughing out loud
The main bloke - not the black one or the obnoxious one, the one that she's obviously supposed to end up with - reminds me of some other actor but I can't think who. It's very, very annoying.

Does anyone watch How I Met Your Mother? You won't be disappointed. :D :D

Frasier is just wonderful. I'm going to have to rewatch them all soon. I've purposely not watched it for ages due to an overdose of Channel 4 repeats a few years ago.

Off the top of my head others include: Friends, Cheers, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, King of the Hill, Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, The Office, Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Can't think of anymore at the moment.

They do make the occasional good sitcom, but there are many others that just seem too smartarse or too indirect for my taste, or just that the weird title makes no sense to me (30 Rock?????????????) I avoid all of these, even if some mistakenly say they are good. It's getting the American thing I usually stumble on, but ones I would watch and enjoy regularly as if they were British are
The Big Bang Theory
Frasier
Taxi
Roseanne
Not many then. Rule Britannia da doo de doo doo doo...
