Critiques Page 5

I use the critique board to get feedback on my sketches.

The advice is helpful and has made my sketches tighter in some cases.

I don't write purely for the forum.

I want to write comedy professionally. However, I'm a beginner. Therefore, the critique forum is a useful place to show my material to impartial folks.

I think most of the writers on here will echo that. The alternative of course is to get a bunch of actors together for a read through. I’m sure we all know how hard that is.

I regret ever mentioning it now.

Never regret anything you say. That's for us! ;)

For all those adjudicators, that's a joke btw not a personal attack. :)

'Critique' sounds a bit French to me. Sort it out Aaron :P

Excuse me! Is this the right room for an argument?

Really, I think this site is a bloody great thing and a really useful tool. I use it like a remote writers' group.

Incidentally, surely this part of the forum should be Writers' Discussion,
wuddenchooagree?

Yeah, your Mum tastes French. :P

Wow. It feels like year five again.

Now why can't all debates be like this? Well argued, a bit passionate, but not TOO passionate and everyone had cake and tea at the end.

For me, the Critique section is a melting pot of different writers, at different levels, with different goals. It's kinda Pick'n'mix at Woolies on a saturday morning with my nan.

Don't get me started of Woolworths pick'n'mix cos it's all a con. The shrimps aren't proper shrimps, neither are the chocolate bananas. Not even the smarties taste like proper smarties. Plus the top 40 at Woolworths bares no resemblance to a real world chart. How is it possible that Chris De Bugger and Chas n Dave are still charting, but somehow according to Woolworths a few weeks back they were! Bastards I hope they all drown in their limited range on xbox software.

I'm staying out of it, it's passionate but not TOO passionate? Wimps

The shrimps aren't proper shrimps ...

You want proper shellfish in your pick and mix?

Phill, You know very well what I mean. I think you're trying to pull the wool over my eyes so you can become famous with your new catchphrase. "Shrimp, Shrimp, this isn't a Shrimp!"

You are obviously one very sneaky guy. I'm keeping my eyes on you and any references you ever make in comedy routines about Chocolate Bananas will be pounced upon by my solicitors at the 'National Coincidence Hotline' so quickly (depend on the post in your area - excluding Northern Ireland) you'll probably not be able to finish whatever it is your were doing. Just a friendly warning.

Oh and by the way this was intended for use on TV, by a radio presenter sitting on a stage.

"Shrimp, Shrimp, this isn't a Shrimp!"

Was last year's catchphrase, I'm on the lookout for a new one.

We've heard about you. You sneak into Woolworths when the manager's on his break and replace all the foam shrimps with real ones you keep in your pockets. They call you the shrimp man.

They call you the shrimp man.

They do, but that's because I have a small penis.
