It isn't, don't worry. Have worked out how to get into admin bit but not how to connect to printer as have no manual or disc. Lots of googling and trying not to cry tomorrow

Ode Pals . . .
Problem/query in bullet points.
- I have two external drives
- to use them at the same time I bought a 4 way hub from the £ Shop (I know!)
- it said that a slower usb connection had been made to a faster port etc . .
- drive A ok but drive B only showed three files and they were/are USBC followed by a square. There used to be other stuff.
- today I bought a Belkin 7 way hub and it works fine 2xexternal plus printer connected but . .
- drive B still only has the three USBC files/folders (?) , no way to open them
- the two drives talk to each other, I've copied from A to B successfully
- I now notice that B is FAT32 whereas A is NTFS
- I've no idea what B was before I started all this
- there is nothing on B that I want so should I format it and if so to what format?
Depends if you regularly use files over 4Gb. FAT32 is not able to do this. I think most people use NTFS nowadays.
Ah, thanks.
Not normally I don't think but I have backed up my main drive to it in the past but I assume Norton breaks that down into 4Gb files?

Dunno for sure, but you'd think so.

Hang on. First question is the printer wireless or wired? OR are you trying to access it through the network? What make is it?
Wireless. What network?! Um, HP? Is that a thing? Have now found the disc. Really looking forward to attempting to set it up again tomorrow. Huuuuge thanks to lovely sootyj for printing stuff for me

How'd it go?

I have a recollection that it is Microsoft's default for Win XP and there are no instructions for ordinary users to remedy the situation.
Initially it shows a list of users to click to logon, but if you press Ctrl-Alt_del twice you reach the old style login box, & you can type in names that don't appear on the welcome screen.

All day spent in humiliating ignorance, but have finally sorted it out. Feel like a genius (am aware this actually makes me a moron). Might have to have celebratory drinks..
I once downed a pint of neat adovcaat

If you are not going to Bingo, you could meet me in the Coronet around 9pm, it's my usual evening there.
