Newsjack - Series 6 Page 37

For the first time in three weeks, I got the auto reply. I'm taking this as a sign that.......................they got my email.

Henry the VIII

Either I've missed something or you've confused NewsJack with Horrible Histories.

(Which is just a cheap rip-off of Cabbages and Kings)

((Which was just a rehash of the pre-Python The Complete and Utter History of Britain))

(((Which probably drew inspiration from the unfunniest funny book ever written, 1066 And All That)))

Nothing's original anymore....

Relevant (if perhaps 469 years to late is relevant).

Oh yes. I read that story this morning.

The term 'missed something' actually means 'been in the pub all day'.

I'm intrigued to know what you did with the story.

It's basically a play on Royal Mail

I too saw that story and wrote a one-liner on it. And pleased to say we both found a different angle on it. (I'll keep you in suspense until Thursday with mine).

Following my credit on last week's episode, I've just received an invitation to a Newsjack 'get together' in a pub, immediately following the recording of next week's episode.

Unfortunately, living outside of London - I don't think I'll be able to make it.

Me too. Shame would have been good to suck up/flirt with producers

What were the Vox Pop & correction?

I've lost track of who wrote what so apologies if you've said before.

These may have been a while ago
series 2 or 3

I was disgusted to see that Keira Knightley was being harassde by some Polish Fella. Two or three British stalkers could have done the job just as well.

We made a mistake last week when we suggested that Fabio Capelo was trying to drown John Terry
What we meant to say was that he took away his armband.

I sent in a dozen this week. In the unusual and pleasant position of having to cut the list down from 15. I should maybe have cut it to ten as, getting to the last couple might not get much attention from the production team's tired eyes anyway. I didn't try and frontload them - with as much funny up front as possible.

Mmm. Sent in 11 this time but already having regrets. My worries are...

1. One was a similar gag to last week that I included due to an escalation in the story. It was still relevant, but perhaps still not funny.

2. One was a gag I wrote at the last minute but now, having thought about it, doesn't really make sense.

3. Two others I wrote using the same set-up but with different punch-lines.

4. My first four gags were those mentioned in points 1-3.

David S - I know you re-wrote some of my stuff after the deadline last time but how about you do it BEFORE next week?

:D

Guys. Seriously, I know you want to share but I really wouldn't post any jokes BEFORE they announce the credits on Thursday. Imagine the writers on The Now Show or The News Quiz doing this (don't, they wouldn't).

Indeed, leave it for critique at 6pm on Thursdays.

Not a good idea to post before recording.

Has anyone actually done this? It all seems rather general.
